"Losing our Qilian Mountain left our six kinds of livestock unable to flourish. Losing our Yanzhi Mountain left our women without color."
A desolate, boundless lament rang out across the vast grasslands, filled with the grief and anger of the Xiongnu.
After Luo Wuji trampled Qilian beneath his horses' hooves, he cut through the Western Regions and cleared away the Xiongnu's route of retreat. Then, together with Huo Qubing, he surrounded and annihilated the forces of the King of the Right Wise beside the Punu River, taking over forty thousand heads. The Xiongnu's right arm had been severed, and they had utterly lost the two sacred mountains, Qilian Mountain and Yanzhi Mountain.
Qilian Mountain and Yanzhi Mountain were among the Xiongnu's most important pastures. Losing them meant losing over a million head of livestock-a devastating blow.
Yet this Xiongnu lament resounded within the court of Great Han, where hundreds of musicians played instruments of every kind-not only the traditional instruments of All Xia, but also those Luo Wuji had obtained from the Western Regions.
All Xia was a people exceptionally skilled at absorbing outstanding cultures and carrying them forward, as with such an excellent instrument as the suona.
Hundreds of palace maids sang in gentle, lovely voices, immersing themselves in the scene, even shedding tears.
Amid this rather sorrowful music and singing, Liu Che, Emperor of Great Han, laughed heartily. He liked this song; whenever he heard it, he felt as though he could see the Xiongnu's wretched plight. What in this world could lift one's spirits more than the howling of a beaten dog?
Ancestors, do you see? Our Liu Clan's Great Han is flourishing with each passing day!
Sage King, do you see? All Xia is flourishing too. From now on, the vast Western Regions are our land.
