Luo State.
Luo Yan received a letter from Qingji. "Father, Qingji has ascended as Count of Wu in Wu State and sent Luo State a covenant."
"May Heaven and the Sage King be with you. May you live for a thousand autumns and ten thousand years, in peace, health, and fulfillment.
Marquis of Luo, Crown Prince Yan, thanks to the soldiers' devotion and the support of the State People, Qingji has ascended as Lord of Wu State.
Helü usurped the title of king in the Wu Capital and built grand palaces that violated the prescribed regulations. What a rebellious beast he was!
No wonder he committed such evils as murdering his lord, seizing the throne, and oppressing the State People.
From this day forth, Qingji renounces the royal title imposed by that traitorous minister Helü and shall guard the southeast under the old title of Count of Wu.
Now that All Ji under Heaven are declining and the Royal House is crumbling, is the dynasty established by King Wu and the Sage King about to lose the mandate of Heaven?
Where, then, should All Ji go?
How should the noble scions of the Ji surname in Jin State, Luo State, and Wu State stand between Heaven and earth?
I am often troubled and lost, unable to see the road ahead. I can only rely on my own courage and strength to fight bloody battles at Hanyang against Chu State, which covets the sacred vessels of sovereignty. This is what Qingji can do.
Having studied at the Academy of Luo State for several years, Qingji understands the essence of Luo State's Way of the King. As a kinsman of the Ji surname, defending the Royal House is what I ought to do."
After reading the letter, Luo Ci fell somewhat silent.
