After all that commotion, Jiang Tian was no longer in the mood to keep looking at homes.
So, after exchanging WeChat contacts with Xianxian, he left.
Before leaving, however, Jiang Tian secretly planted a spirit seal inside Qi Yang.
If the brat dared disobey his instructions, he could find him even if he fled to the ends of the earth.
With Jiang Tian gone, calm soon returned to the sales office.
"Young Master Qi, Young Master Qi, are you all right?"
Only then did Old Eight hurry over, nursing his injured fingers.
He had wanted to come over earlier, but after seeing Jiang Tian's overwhelming strength, he had stayed on the floor playing dead a little longer. Only now that Jiang Tian had left did he dare approach.
Supporting Qi Yang, whose legs were still weak, Old Eight looked at Jiang Tian's retreating figure and cursed, "Young Master Qi, that brat was lucky he ran so fast. Otherwise, I'd have punched him until his own mother couldn't recognize him!"
Qi Yang came to his senses, glanced at Old Eight, and slapped him.
"Fuck off! Now that he's gone, you're talking big? Where the hell were you earlier?"
Qi Yang continued cursing.
The slap stunned Old Eight, but he dared not lash out. "Young Master Qi, you've misunderstood. I really..."
"Get lost! A bunch of useless bastards! Every last one of you is worthless! My dad spends all that money keeping you around, and this is how you do your jobs?"
"Don't you claim to be unbeatable in South City? You couldn't even handle some brat, and now you're standing here spouting bullshit!"
The more Qi Yang thought about it, the angrier he became. He stepped forward and kicked Old Eight several more times.
Old Eight staggered backward under the kicks, not daring to make a sound.
Once Qi Yang's anger had eased a little, Old Eight said awkwardly, "Young Master Qi, the main thing is, I never expected that brat to be so strong. He must have martial arts training!"
"Martial arts training?"
Qi Yang froze.
Old Eight nodded repeatedly. "Yes! Think about it. If he didn't have training, how could he have beaten so many of us all by himself?"
Qi Yang frowned. Now that Old Eight mentioned it, that really was possible.
His father had a formidable martial arts expert at his side. Qi Yang had once watched him bend a steel plate several centimeters thick with a single punch. Even dozens of bodyguards couldn't handle him.
"A Martial Artist?"
Qi Yang's eyes flickered.
Old Eight lowered his voice. "It's very possible, Young Master Qi. If that brat really is a Martial Artist, we're no match for him!"
A vicious glint flashed in Qi Yang's eyes as he gritted his teeth. "I don't care whether he's a Martial Artist. Even if he is, I'm not letting what happened today slide!"
"Then what do you have in mind, Young Master Qi?"
Old Eight was startled. Young Master Qi clearly couldn't swallow this humiliation!
"Stay out of this. I'll handle it myself! I'll make that brat pay!"
Qi Yang seethed with rage.
Then, remembering something, he looked toward Yao Meina, his eyes shifting. "And this bitch! She actually made me suck on fake tits! And she cheated on me, too. I'll make her wish she were dead!"
"She's yours. Doesn't she like getting high? Then I'll make sure she never comes down!"
Old Eight was delighted. Although he had no interest in a woman like her, the men under him might. They would definitely descend on her like a pack of wolves!
"Don't worry, Young Master Qi. Leave this bitch to us!"
Old Eight grinned wickedly.
Seeing this, Yao Meina turned deathly pale with fright and fainted on the spot. She knew she was finished!
Forget marrying into the Qi family-she might not even survive...
Meanwhile.
After leaving the Imperial View Garden sales office, Jiang Tian returned to the area near the municipal library.
It was still early, so Jiang Tian didn't rush Jiang Wan'er. He simply sat alone on a bench beside the road, watching the passersby.
Although it was the middle of winter, there was still no shortage of women on the streets determined to look beautiful.
They actually had their legs bare in below-freezing temperatures. Their courage was truly admirable.
Jiang Tian couldn't help shaking his head. "Looking pretty now, but they'll regret it when their knees start aching in old age."
With that, he tore his gaze away from those pale, lovely legs and took out his phone to pass the time.
"Jiang Tian?"
Just then, an uncertain voice sounded behind him.
Jiang Tian paused and turned to look.
A chubby man in a black suit and black-framed glasses stood behind him.
"Are you... Zhang Miao?"
Looking at the vaguely familiar figure, Jiang Tian asked tentatively.
"It really is you, Tian! What are you doing here?"
Realizing that the man before him really was his close friend whom he hadn't seen in years, Zhang Miao grew excited.
He hurried forward and threw his arms around Jiang Tian.
"Tian, where have you been these past ten years? I've missed you so much!"
Zhang Miao thumped Jiang Tian's back hard, overcome with excitement.
Jiang Tian was delighted too. He had never expected to run into his best friend here!
Zhang Miao had been both Jiang Tian's high school classmate and his best friend. Back in high school, they had been so close that, as their teacher put it, they could have shared a pair of underwear.
Of course, that had only been a joke, but they really had been close.
"Three Waters, I'm happy to see you again too!"
Jiang Tian patted his back as well.
After letting go, Zhang Miao looked at Jiang Tian and asked, "Tian, what are you doing out here in this freezing weather?"
Jiang Tian smiled faintly. "My sister's in the library. I'm waiting for her here."
"Oh, I see. Tian, where have you been these past ten years? Why did you suddenly leave without a word? We thought something had happened to you."
Zhang Miao sat down beside Jiang Tian and asked.
After all, Jiang Tian's sudden disappearance ten years ago had caused quite a stir at school!
Some people had even speculated that he had been tricked into going to northern Myanmar and had his kidneys harvested.
"Me?"
Seeing Zhang Miao's eagerness, Jiang Tian couldn't help smiling faintly. "Would you believe me if I said I went off to cultivate immortality?"
"Cultivate immortality?"
Zhang Miao froze, then laughed and scolded him. "Tian, you're kidding, right? Been reading too many novels?"
Seeing that he didn't believe him, Jiang Tian could only smile helplessly and shake his head. Of course, who would believe something as absurd as cultivating immortality?
Still, he didn't explain. Even if they believed him, what difference would it make?
"So, Tian, where did you really go? You didn't even take the college entrance exams. Did something happen at home?"
Zhang Miao asked again, but this time his eyes were full of concern.
Jiang Tian exhaled. "Something unexpected happened to me, but everything's fine now."
"Huh? To... to you? Did you come down with some serious illness? Or...?"
At that, Zhang Miao hurriedly grabbed Jiang Tian's hand and began examining him.
Seeing how worked up he was, Jiang Tian didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "I wasn't sick. I just went through a major turning point in my life. Don't ask for the details."
Since Jiang Tian didn't want to talk about it, Zhang Miao couldn't press him further. After all, who would readily talk about something that had changed their whole life? He probably had his own reasons.
"All right, enough about me. What about you? How have you been? Look at you, all dressed up in a suit. You must be doing pretty well, right?"
Jiang Tian changed the subject, looking at Zhang Miao with a smile.
"Me?"
Zhang Miao paused, then smiled bitterly. "How else would I be doing? Same as always. Just getting by."
"You're wearing a suit, and you're still playing humble?"
Jiang Tian laughed and gave him a playful punch on the shoulder.
Zhang Miao exhaled, took out a cigarette and offered it to Jiang Tian, then lit one for himself. Letting out a long breath, he said, "I'm really not lying. I sell insurance now. This is my work uniform..."
