Some people from the Wanhai Civilization found Zhong Shan, woke him, and told him something.
It was something very important.
"How could I possibly do that! Impossible!!" Zhong Shan's roar stirred waves across the sea and carried far, far away.
Some deep-seated conflict seemed to have arisen between them.
These envoys from the Wanhai Civilization taught him a method that could restore his sanity.
Once he recovered his sanity and escaped the erosion of the "mountain," he would become a true immortal.
"Zhong Shan, you are the most talented person our people have produced in two thousand years. Why let this hold you back?"
Yet this method seemed to demand some enormous price!
"Get... lost! Even if I turn into a mountain, I will never do that!" His thunderous roar split the clouds. "Go! Get as far away as you can!"
What followed was what the companions had now seen: Zhong Shan's consciousness grew weaker and weaker. Even with the Source of the World shining on him, he could only stay lucid for a few short hours.
He fell into some sort of deep slumber.
Fortunately, his wife possessed a small degree of control over his body. In addition, he had already cultivated his physical body to an extremely formidable level, so he could safely withstand most disasters.
But the situation certainly did not look promising...
