The mountains contained every kind of environment: babbling streams beneath little bridges, forests of crimson maples, majestic waterfalls plunging three thousand feet, vast boundless lakes, and peaks from which all the mountains seemed small at a glance. Anyone could find a living environment they liked here.
Ye Chen chose a bamboo house beside a little bridge and flowing water. The bridge was an ancient stone bridge, while the water was a small river that wound on for an unknown distance. Sparse water plants grew in the river, and several fish foraged beneath them. South of the river stood an orderly scattering of bamboo houses, emerald green and fragrant. Behind them, stalk after stalk of verdant bamboo stood tall and vigorous. One glance was not enough to see into the depths of the bamboo forest.
