"The Tomb Master must have been a sick bastard!"
Fatty cursed loudly.
Everyone else looked as though they agreed.
"Ah?!"
CoCo suddenly cried out and hurried two steps backward.
"What's wrong?!"
Gu Cheng, who was closest to her, instinctively reached out to steady her back.
Looking pale, CoCo pointed at a spot on the Bronze Gate. "There's writing there!"
Writing?!
Everyone gathered around.
Sure enough, there were several lines of writing there.
Judging purely by the lettering, the strokes were free and flowing, shifting between light turns and firm pressure like flowing water and drifting clouds. It was the work of a master calligrapher.
The content, however, was far less pleasing.
"Whoever enters this gate shall face great calamity."
"Whoever enters this gate shall be haunted by evil spirits."
"Whoever enters this gate shall suffer for eternity."
"The Longevity Army stands guard for generations. Those who defy us shall be slain! Slain! Slain!"
Gu Cheng and the others read it with their hearts pounding.
Jackie Chan and his companions could not read the characters, so they asked what they meant.
"This is running script. It's actually quite easy to recognize. It says..."
CoCo answered their question.
They, too, immediately fell silent.
Just then.
Gu Cheng suddenly said, "I know who the Tomb Master was!"
Everyone immediately looked at him curiously.
CoCo hurriedly asked, "Who?!"
She had racked her little brain without figuring out who the Tomb Master was, mainly because there were too few clues. She had never expected Gu Cheng to work it out first.
She felt a little unwilling to concede.
She was, after all, a PhD in archaeology from Dragon Country. Although her main focus was artifact authentication, archaeology was a field in which, whatever your specialty, you had to study almost every
discipline.
