Fatty's voice trembled slightly. "What the hell are these monsters?"

Hu Bayi's voice was cold. "They were all human. They only ended up like this because they were used in experiments."

Fatty froze.

Then he understood what Hu Bayi meant and immediately burst into curses. "Those fucking Sakura People! They're a bunch of heartless beasts! How dare they conduct such inhuman experiments?!"

"If you ask me, we should kill every last one of those animals! That's the only way to make them pay for their crimes!"

Gu Cheng wasn't as furious as the other two.

It wasn't that he was cold-blooded.

He was simply more rational.

Finding Yingzi was what mattered most right now.

As for this laboratory, they could notify the authorities once they got out and leave it to them.

Although so many years had passed that the Sakura soldiers once stationed here couldn't possibly still be alive, they could still make the Sakura People pay a price.

"All right. It looks like this place was a laboratory."

Gu Cheng remained more levelheaded. "Let's check somewhere else. Finding Yingzi comes first."

The three continued their search.

But what they found next left the other two shaking with rage. Even Gu Cheng was filled with righteous fury.

At least eight out of every ten rooms were laboratories.

All of them had been used for various inhuman experiments.

Some were for toxicology experiments.

Some were for organ transplant experiments.

Some were for biochemical experiments.

The experimental subjects inside the laboratories were so horrifying that even gods would have been enraged.

"Animals! Animals!"

"Those sons of bitches don't deserve to be called human!"

"Why did we let them go home back then? We should have rounded them all up and turned them into experimental subjects like these!"

Fatty Wang was about to explode with anger.

Though he had never served in the military, his father had been a fallen serviceman.

He had grown up in a military compound, and that upbringing had instilled a fierce patriotism in him from an early age.

The Sakura People were the ones he despised most.

He often said he had been born in the wrong era. If he had been born a few decades earlier, he would definitely have enlisted to fight the Sakura People.

Hu Bayi's face was ashen with fury as well.

The patriotic education he had received was even more intense and deeply rooted than Fatty's.

Now, seeing the monstrous crimes the Sakura People had left behind in his own country, he too burned with rage.

Gu Cheng leafed through the notes and experimental records on the desk.

"I finally understand why the Sakura People hollowed out a mountain in such a remote place to build this military base."

"It was all to support the laboratories."

"The entire third level consists of laboratories."

"They captured people from Dragon Country and subjected them to all kinds of inhuman experiments like these."

"That's why they had to choose somewhere so remote."

"If this had ever been exposed, the Sakura People would have become the enemies of all humanity."

"Then let's expose them!"

Fatty said furiously, "We'll tell the whole world about their crimes and let everyone see exactly what kind of beasts the Sakura People are!"

"Pah!"

Fatty Wang had both strengths and flaws.

His strength was his loyalty and affection. He would go to any lengths for his friends.

Whenever Hu Bayi was in danger, Fatty Wang would always show up. He wasn't merely there to help Hu Bayi escape danger; he was willing to risk his own life to protect him.

His flaws were that he refused to listen to advice, acted recklessly, was impulsive and quick-tempered, and wasn't particularly rational. He was always trying to gain some petty advantage through one trick or another, only to stir up all sorts of unnecessary trouble.

And then there was his loose tongue. He loved spouting nonsense.

Yet, of all the members of the Tomb-Raiding Trio, Fatty Wang had the most fans.

Many people liked Fatty Wang because, compared with Hu Bayi and Shirley Yang, he felt more real.

He was an ordinary little guy scraping by on the streets, just like us.

Gu Cheng was about to step forward and offer Fatty a few words of comfort.

Suddenly, a tremendous clang rang out from the empty, silent corridor outside.

All three froze.

Gu Cheng's expression changed in an instant, and he ran outside.

He looked toward the huge iron door at the entrance to the third level. Somehow, the door that had been standing open was now shut.

"Fuck!"

He hurried over.

He tried to pull it open, only to discover, to his surprise, that it was locked.

Hu Bayi and Fatty Wang followed him over.

"What happened?!"

"Why is the door shut?"

The two asked.

Gu Cheng frowned deeply. "It's not just shut. It's been locked from the outside."

The other two were shocked.

"That's impossible. Aren't there only four of us in this base?"

"The three of us are here."

"Could Yingzi have locked it?"

Gu Cheng glanced at them. "Have you forgotten about that child?"

Both immediately fell silent.

Gu Cheng turned to look down the dimly lit corridor and said gravely, "Since he doesn't want us to leave, let's go meet him."

The three continued forward.

At the end of the corridor, the passage branched left and right.

After a moment's thought, Gu Cheng decided to go right.

The child had disappeared down the right-hand passage earlier.

There were plenty of rooms along this passage too, all of them rest areas. The three gave them a quick inspection but found nothing unusual.

But as they passed a large iron door, Fatty curiously peeked inside.

The stench nearly knocked him out.

Inside was a circular chamber filled with a strange smell.

They had Fatty guard the iron door and made sure he knew not to let it close.

Gu Cheng and Hu Bayi went inside to take a look.

The dust on the floor was so thick that their feet nearly sank into it past the tops of their shoes.

There was also a passage in the ceiling, pitch-black, with no telling where it led.

Gu Cheng shone his flashlight up at it.

"Looks like a ventilation shaft!"

"I wonder if there's a way out through it."

He tried jumping up to touch the opening, only to get a hand covered in slick grease.

"Fuck! What is this stuff?"

"This is fucking disgusting."

Hu Bayi glanced at it curiously, then looked up at the chimney.

His expression changed instantly.

"I know what this place was used for!"

"Quick! Let's get out of here!"
