Taking a day off to beat up the outline. We're about to leave the starter village, so I need to work out the setup and transitions for the new map, new dungeons, and new mechanics or2.
The rewards from the new legendary dungeon tie into the entry into the new map. There are two possible routes, and I still haven't decided after agonizing over them for ages. Changing maps is crucial; one careless move can make things feel far too disjointed, so I can't be sloppy.
Some people said, "Your Pet Beasts are already Overlord Species. How could you only just be leaving the starter village?" Ahem, as everyone knows, Qingquan started out writing Pokémon fanfiction, so there were certain points of comparison when I set up the species ranks.
Extraordinary Species were equivalent to Caterpie and Rattata. Commander was equivalent to Pidgeotto. Monarch was only equivalent to Pokémon like Gyarados. As for Overlord, at most, that meant Pseudo-Legendaries like Dragonite and Tyranitar, species that Beast Tamers could still come into contact with.
Lesser Legendaries like the Divine Deer were roughly equivalent to the Lake Guardians and the Phoenix Guard (does putting it that way make them sound a bit less impressive?). That's why we're only just leaving the starter village orz. You should be able to work out the comparisons for the higher ranks yourselves now. Doesn't that make things much clearer? It's fine if you've never watched Pokémon; you just need to know that the protagonist has only just gotten started. It's a beast-taming story, after all, so of course the pets have to be raised until they can rival Legendaries beyond the reach of human power. See you tomorrow!
