Ch. 41Bloodline Evolution

Lin Jing reunited with Ouyang Hao at the Mission Hall, where he collected Firecloud Chili seeds and learned that Ouyang was saving for bloodline evolution. Ouyang advised Lin Jing to seek a Beast-Taming Spatial Treasure and help the Pineleaf Squirrel evolve during Foundation Establishment, leaving Lin Jing considering a unique pill made from mutated spirit plants and his longevity blood.

  • Lin Jing went to the Mission Hall after learning that someone had completed his Firecloud Chili seed mission and discovered Ouyang Hao was the one who had found the seeds.
  • Ouyang Hao gave Lin Jing the seeds as a gift for entering the Inner Gate, then accepted a mission to investigate disappearances at the Beast Pass.
  • Ouyang Hao asked whether Lin Jing had entered a Grotto Heaven, and Lin Jing confirmed that he had.
  • Ouyang Hao suggested Lin Jing apply for a Life-Bound Beast-Taming Spatial Treasure and warned him not to rush his or the Pineleaf Squirrel's Foundation Establishment.
  • Ouyang Hao explained that Foundation Establishment could let the Pineleaf Squirrel evolve its bloodline, while Lin Jing considered refining it a unique pill using mutated spirit plants and his longevity blood.

Ch. 42The Squirrel Leaps to Heavenly Capital (Thanks to Nuanyang1314 for the Golden Alliance!)

Lin Jing and Senior Brother Ouyang walked toward Lotus Peak, where Ouyang told him about the Beast Taming Sect’s guardian deity and its promise to the Pineleaf Squirrel clan. After hearing the story, Lin Jing’s Pineleaf Squirrel flew from Cloud-Tilling Peak toward Heavenly Capital Peak on a Red Leaf.

  • Lin Jing agreed to walk with Senior Brother Ouyang to visit Elder Mo and ask about obtaining a Beast-Taming Space treasure.
  • Ouyang showed Lin Jing sights of the Inner Peak, including Nine Dragons Waterfall and Purple Cloud Spring.
  • At Cloud-Tilling Peak, Lin Jing explained that a Pineleaf Squirrel ancestor had tried and failed to leap onto Heavenly Capital Peak, earning the clan a place in the sect.
  • Ouyang revealed that the guardian deity on Heavenly Capital Peak had promised to teach the Dao to any Pineleaf Squirrel that successfully made the leap from Cloud-Tilling Peak.
  • Lin Jing’s Pineleaf Squirrel took a Red Leaf from its Storage Bag and flew toward Heavenly Capital Peak, leaving Ouyang astonished.

Ch. 44True disciple!

Lin Jing and Ouyang Hao visited Elder Mo to discuss their plans and prepare for the Hidden Dragon Academy. Elder Mo agreed to consider giving Lin Jing a True Disciple’s life-bound spatial treasure and explained the sect’s secret arts, while the Pineleaf Squirrel showed interest in a technique that could revive it.

  • The Pineleaf Squirrel tried to fly up Heavenly Capital Peak but was forced down by the oppressive aura, and Ouyang Hao caught it with the Whirlwind Technique.
  • Ouyang Hao asked Elder Mo to help arrange a Heavenly Feather Crane as his future pet beast, and Elder Mo agreed.
  • Lin Jing asked for early access to a True Disciple’s life-bound beast-taming spatial treasure and secret arts to prepare for the Hidden Dragon Academy.
  • Elder Mo said he would discuss granting Lin Jing the spatial treasure with the other elders and explained why Lin Jing could not yet learn the True Disciple secret arts.
  • Elder Mo described the sect’s three True Disciple secret arts and ten core beast-taming arts, and Lin Jing joked with the Pineleaf Squirrel about reviving it after using it to cover his retreat.

Ch. 45The Black Chili

Lin Jing ripened a Firecloud Chili plant and used the Pineleaf Squirrel’s Glazed Immortal Eyes to reveal a black chili that granted the White Rat Spirit Netherworld Ghostfire. Elder Black Bear warned Lin Jing to stop growing the dangerous plant and appointed the surviving rat as his pill-testing attendant.

  • Lin Jing told Elder Mo he planned to cultivate the sect’s secret arts, and Elder Mo agreed to send Elder Black Bear to test the fierce plant.
  • Lin Jing and the Pineleaf Squirrel returned to their cave abode, where Lin Jing promised to help train the squirrel’s mental power before they ripened the Firecloud Chili seeds.
  • The Pineleaf Squirrel ripened a Firecloud Chili plant, and its Glazed Immortal Eyes revealed one black chili among the red ones.
  • The White Rat Spirit ate the black chili and caused Netherworld Ghostfire to burn Elder Black Bear’s soul.
  • Elder Black Bear destroyed the remaining chilies, warned Lin Jing not to grow them again, and appointed the White Rat Spirit as Lin Jing’s exclusive pill-testing attendant.

Ch. 46Life-Bound Treasure

Lin Jing trained the Pineleaf Squirrel to withstand fear while waiting for a suitable alchemy fire, then received the chance to claim a life-bound beast-taming spatial treasure. At the Treasury Pavilion, he and Elder Mo presented seven treasures for him to choose from.

  • The White Rat Spirit suffered the delayed heat of Lin Jing’s Black Chili Pepper and declined the chance to become his medicine-testing attendant, so the Black Bear Monster sent it home.
  • Lin Jing transformed into a giant weasel to frighten the Pineleaf Squirrel, confiscated its weapons, and told it he would keep testing its courage with monster forms.
  • Over several days, Lin Jing used illusions of beasts that preyed on the Pineleaf Squirrel, gradually teaching it to withstand Foundation Establishment-level pressure.
  • Elder Mo told Lin Jing that he had secured him a life-bound beast-taming spatial treasure and explained that it could store contracted beasts and improve their cultivation.
  • Elder Mo brought Lin Jing and the Pineleaf Squirrel to the Treasury Pavilion, where Lin Jing saw seven differently shaped spatial treasures and prepared to choose one.

Ch. 47Refining

Lin Jing chose and refined a Hanging Gourd as his life-bound Beast-Taming Spatial Treasure, giving the Pineleaf Squirrel a spacious new home. Elder Mo explained the sect’s history guarding a Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, and Lin Jing left eager to make the most of his new treasure.

  • Elder Mo told Lin Jing how the Second Sect Master helped seal a powerful demon beneath the Great Wilderness and how the Beast Taming Sect came to guard one of four Demon-Suppressing Pagodas.
  • Lin Jing chose the Hanging Gourd because its natural space and wood affinity suited the Pineleaf Squirrel, and he wondered whether the squirrel could combine more gourds with its Glazed Immortal Eyes.
  • Elder Mo warned Lin Jing that Hanging Gourds were rare, then rejected his request to claim another Spatial Treasure after reaching Foundation Establishment.
  • With Elder Mo’s guidance, Lin Jing refined the Hanging Gourd and discovered its interior was larger than his former courtyard.
  • Lin Jing recalled the Pineleaf Squirrel into the gourd, where it marveled at the spacious, spirit-rich interior and began planning its new home and multiple warehouses.
  • Lin Jing hung the shrunken red gourd at his waist as Elder Mo remarked that enemies might mistake him for an ordinary traveler before he summoned his pet beast.

Ch. 48Demon-Suppressing Tower

After the Pineleaf Squirrel failed another attempt at Squirrel Leaping to Heaven, Lin Jing asked Elder Mo about a stronger way to train their minds. Elder Mo agreed that Lin Jing and the squirrel could enter the Great Wilderness Demon-Suppressing Tower after seeing Lin Jing's powerful Illusion Path Spell resist Golden Core pressure.

  • Lin Jing asked Elder Mo to take him and the Pineleaf Squirrel to Cloud-Tilling Peak for another attempt at Squirrel Leaping to Heaven.
  • The Pineleaf Squirrel flew higher than before but was overwhelmed by the pressure and fell, and Elder Mo caught it.
  • Lin Jing asked about a place to train their minds, and Elder Mo explained the Great Wilderness Demon-Suppressing Tower's Buddhist-light Divine Ability.
  • Elder Mo warned that the tower's demonic pressure was normally too dangerous for a Qi Refinement Realm cultivator, but Lin Jing claimed they could withstand it.
  • Lin Jing manifested a Buddha illusion that resisted Elder Mo's Golden Core pressure, so Elder Mo allowed him and the Pineleaf Squirrel to enter the tower.

Ch. 49Demon

Elder Mo brought Lin Jing and the Pineleaf Squirrel to the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda, where they entered its trial using manifestations of their minds and magical power. Lin Jing's Fa Hai illusion repelled the first demonic assault, while a sealed demon mistook him for a powerful Buddhist and began plotting to use him to escape.

  • Elder Mo took Lin Jing and the Pineleaf Squirrel to the pagoda, and Patriarch Wang Batian allowed the Qi Refinement Realm pair to enter.
  • Wang Batian explained the trial's rules, and Lin Jing left his mental imprint on the stone stele before entering with the Pineleaf Squirrel.
  • Inside the pagoda, Lin Jing found that his storage items and treasures were unusable, so he fashioned an illusion of Fa Hai before opening the great doors.
  • A demonic wind and illusions of venomous snakes attacked them, but Lin Jing's illusion protected him and his shout dispersed the threat affecting the Pineleaf Squirrel.
  • A demon sealed deep underground sensed Lin Jing's Buddhist aura and decided to trick him into helping it escape.

Ch. 50Treasure

Lin Jing’s Illusion Path disguise led the Undying Black Serpent to reveal the location of its hidden treasure, but the illusion also triggered the release of the white-robed monk’s sealed consciousness and weakened the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda’s seals. The monk explained the consequences and bestowed Buddhist light on Lin Jing and the Pineleaf Squirrel.

  • Lin Jing tried to leave the pagoda after the expected Buddhist light failed to appear, but Black Loach emerged and begged him for release, offering the location of its treasure.
  • Black Loach mistook Lin Jing’s illusion of an eminent monk for a real Buddhist cultivator and revealed that its treasure was hidden on Heavenly Yin Mountain.
  • A white-robed monk appeared, exposed Lin Jing’s Illusion Path disguise, and purified Black Loach with Buddhist light.
  • The monk explained that releasing his consciousness would gradually weaken the pagoda’s seals and told Lin Jing that Black Loach’s treasure consisted of extraordinary plant seeds from a Grotto Heaven.
  • The white-robed monk recognized Lin Jing’s affinity with Buddhism and bestowed Buddhist light on him and the Pineleaf Squirrel.
