If he failed, he would try again.
Whenever he tried to breed a new spirit insect, failure was practically his daily bread.
So he kept trying!
For this attempt, Lin Ke switched the male and female roles of the two spirit insects.
As the Heart-Rotting Toad's essence surged into the Fire-Scaled Centipede, it immediately struggled to withstand it. Its body soon glowed red and became translucent.
The Heart-Rotting Toad's essence could be seen moving through its body with the naked eye.
"Hiss, hiss-"
Before long, the Fire-Scaled Centipede could no longer withstand it. Flames gradually rose from its body, and the Heart-Rotting Toad's essence scalded it to death.
"Uh, this..."
After all this time trying to breed spirit insects, this was still the first time Lin Ke had seen one die this way.
Once he had settled himself, he resumed his attempts.
For his new attempt, he replaced the Heart-Rotting Toad with a Jade-Blood Spider.
The Fire-Scaled Centipede was about the same size as the Jade-Blood Spider. If he bred them, an accident like the one just now probably would not happen.
And so, the attempts continued.
In the first attempt, the Jade-Blood Spider served as the male and the Fire-Scaled Centipede as the female.
As the Jade-Blood Spider's essence poured in, the Fire-Scaled Centipede clearly withstood it this time.
But just as Lin Ke thought it might succeed, the Fire-Scaled Centipede's body writhed and struggled for a moment before bursting apart again.
The second attempt failed.
Then came the third, the fourth, the fifth...
Lin Ke spent half a day breeding spirit insects.
Yet the results did not seem entirely satisfactory.
Five kinds of spirit insects, fifty in total, and several hours of attempts ultimately yielded only two kinds of spirit insects.
One of these two was the "Fire-Poison
