Was the sect going to open its mountain-protecting formation and let them out to fight?
Would nascent soul elders no longer be called elders, but Peak Seats?
And then there were all those other arrangements...
Listening to Rain Spider True Person, Lin Ke felt as though the heavens had changed.
Expanding their territory!
Everyone saw only the expansion, only that the conquered lands would belong to them. They failed to see the mountains of corpses and seas of blood behind those words.
The sect already occupied a considerable area, after all. It could be considered one of the larger branches of the Poison Tempering Mountains.
From what Lin Ke had estimated during his flights, this branch alone was roughly half the size of the Himalaya Mountains in his previous life.
The entire Poison Tempering Mountains, together with the surrounding region, were almost as large as a continent in his previous life.
Boundless and vast!
By comparison, this revealed just how small the Golden Wing Sect actually was.
The peaks Rain Spider True Person had mentioned were presumably all outside the sect's territory.
From what she meant, the sect's elders would henceforth be renamed Peak Seats and stationed at individual peaks, with everything within a thousand miles of each peak falling under its Peak Seat's jurisdiction and protection.
And what about beyond that?
Beyond that, if any golden core or dao foundation disciple conquered a piece of territory that originally belonged to the Demon Race, they could apply to have it placed under a Peak Seat's jurisdiction and protection as well.
What was this meant to do?
It was encouraging golden core and dao foundation disciples to go out and establish themselves!
Although the Poison Tempering Mountains now housed numerous cultivation sects, probably less than thirty percent of this enormous mountain range had been developed.
Vast stretches teemed with spiritual materials, spiritual treasures, spirit insects, spiritual herbs, and all manner of other things...
If they could conquer a blessed grotto-heaven, somewhere suited to growing a particular spiritual plant or raising a particular spirit beast, or even simply find a spirit stone mine, wouldn't they strike it rich?
Most importantly, this expansion was not like going out alone to seize a mountain and crown yourself king, as people usually did. The entire Golden Wing Sect would be backing them.
So long as they conquered the land and held it for ten days on their own, a nascent soul Peak Seat would come to support them.
Lin Ke guessed those ten days were meant to prove their ability to the sect.
After all, a Peak Seat could hardly stand guard over them every hour of every day.
Most of the time, they would still have to defend it themselves, only calling on the Peak Seat when they encountered a threat beyond their strength.
Lin Ke could imagine how wild the sect's golden core and dao foundation disciples would go.
Never mind them-even the qi refining disciples would probably be itching for a share.
After all, in the cultivation world, the four most important things were wealth, companions, methods, and land.
And all four ultimately boiled down to resources!
If they could seize a mountain and crown themselves king, even qi refining disciples could obtain excellent resources.
That went without saying for those at the dao foundation stage and golden core stage.
Unfortunately, qi refining disciples lacked the necessary strength. Even if they could conquer a stretch of land, they would not be able to hold it.
Demon beasts valued good territory too, after all, and they were territorial creatures.
If demon beasts occupied a good stretch of land, there was bound to be a reason: treasures, abundant spiritual energy, spiritual plants, or something similar.
If you drove them out, they would certainly try to seize it back. Conquering it would not be the end of the matter.
Then again, if you conquered a stretch of land and the demon beasts wanted to reclaim it, there was bound to be a reason for that too.
That reason lay in the wealth and land among those four essentials.
Even Lin Ke found this somewhat tempting.
He spent every day coveting this and that, and the reason could be summed up in one word: poverty.
His Green Mulberry Garden lacked sufficient spiritual energy. In fact, many places within the sect lacked it; those where it was abundant had long since been occupied by beings at the nascent soul level or above.
With abundant spiritual energy, his cultivation would certainly become more efficient.
But what if he found a place with abundant spiritual energy out in the Poison Tempering Mountains himself?
Besides that, he faced a whole string of other problems: too few varieties of spirit insects, formations he could not afford, equipment he could not afford, and so on.
If he could conquer some territory and become king of his own mountain, with the sect supporting him from behind, that would be wonderfully satisfying.
Still, Lin Ke knew his strength was currently meager. Keeping his head down and developing steadily, rather than reaching beyond his grasp, was the right path.
Just then, Rain Spider True Person spoke again:
"I have just sought the Grand Elders' instructions!"
She cupped her hands toward an unseen point high in the sky, then said, "The Grand Elders have already swept tens of thousands of miles beyond the sect with their divine senses and contacted the Giant Strength Fire Prison Sect, the Cloud Ink Sect, and the Jade Great Radiance Church."
"Their mountain-guarding elders have also fallen! The Demon Race of the Poison Tempering Mountains intends to wage war against us humans!"
Rain Spider True Person's tone seethed with anger, yet her voice remained as cold as ever. "We must not let our fellow cultivators look down on the Golden Wing Sect! Now-Peak Seats, take your positions!"
As her words fell, powerful auras immediately surged through the sky.
"Hahaha! I said long ago that the sect should strike first, but it still isn't too late! Children, follow me into battle!"
"I shall lead the vanguard! From this day forward, the foremost peak on the front line shall be renamed White Dew Peak!"
"My Spider Mother Lair can finally have plenty more blood and flesh to feast on! Kill, kill, kill!"
"The legacy of the Giant Insect Corpse Shaman finally sees the light of day! Any disciples interested in the Corpse-Driving Lineage are welcome to join me! Haha!"
Each nascent soul powerhouse's voice had its own distinctive character. They all rang across the heavens, changing the sky's very color, sending spiritual energy into turmoil and making the air tremble.
Whatever their temperament-cold and aloof or savage and bloodthirsty-their voices were now thick with anticipation and exhilaration.
Merely listening to them, Lin Ke felt the stirring awe of watching the Golden Wing Sect's historical scroll slowly unfurl.
This was the soaring fervor before the conquest of new lands.
A nascent soul powerhouse named Fly True Person dissolved into countless flying flies, becoming a swarm that swept into the distance.
A powerhouse named White Dew True Person united with a sword, becoming a keen blade that cleaved across the heavens.
Another, known as Spider Mother, sprouted eight legs from the back and raced through the air, covered in spiders of every description...
The nascent soul powerhouses had all mobilized!
Meanwhile, Rain Spider True Person remained standing in the air, holding a Mystic Vein Book. Its pages resembled jade, making it visibly different from an ordinary Mystic Vein Book.
Seeing that all the nascent soul True Persons had departed, Rain Spider True Person tossed the Mystic Vein Book into the air.
"The sect has called-fight and return!"
A tremendous surge of spiritual power and mental power flowed from Rain Spider True Person into the Mystic Vein Book, causing it to release wave after wave of profound fluctuations.
In an instant, strands of divine sense emerged from it, carrying one thought after another.
"A Sect War Summons?! Looks like those demon beast brats in the Poison Tempering Mountains are just as unruly as the ones in the Ailao Great Forest!"
"The Golden Wing Sect! What a nostalgic name... It's been over three hundred years. Time I went back for a look..."
"Haha! The sect has finally issued a war summons! I heard demon beasts were causing trouble in the Cloud Frontier. Here I come!"
"A hundred long years... I wonder where my old friends are now?"
"Is the old man still alive? You'd better not have passed away in meditation! I'm coming back to see you right now!"
Thought after thought swept across several miles, allowing Lin Ke and the others to feel the sect's formidable reserves.
Because these voices belonged to its golden core Personal Disciples!
Judging by the voices, there were no fewer than a hundred golden core Personal Disciples!
Even as Lin Ke's blood boiled with excitement, he felt certain that turbulent, unsettled times lay ahead.
"I should rein myself in a little..."
"I'll definitely have to fight. It'll hone my combat skills, but venturing out amid this turmoil will certainly expose me to danger."
"Then again, danger also means opportunity."
"And once the sect's great formation opens, everyone will face that danger."
"The sect intends to refine true gold in a blazing fire..."
At that thought, Lin Ke narrowed his eyes and murmured, "Construction of the underground world beneath Golden Silkworm Peak needs to speed up!"
