Dinner was nang and milk tea, with no dishes to go with them, just jam, honey, and cream.
"My wife didn't know I was coming back, so the meal is a little simple," Liu Shanmin explained. "Let's make do tonight. Tomorrow, once I've sold off the white sugar, I'll treat you to a meal."
Li Long didn't mind, and neither did the others. Right now, they just wanted to finish eating and get to bed.
"But you should be prepared. Even a big meal here will definitely be different from what you're used to back home. Supplies are tight here now, and there are already problems with the food supply," Liu Shanmin added, which piqued Li Long's curiosity.
Had things already gotten that bad?
Liu Shanmin's wife was called Lisa. She was supposedly twenty-three or twenty-four, and looked about the same age as Gu Xiaoxia. She was quite pretty, with a slightly fuller figure, and was busy in the kitchen wearing an apron.
After talking with Li Long and the others for a bit, Liu Shanmin went into the kitchen to help.
Liu Gaolou said quietly:
"Boss Li, it's thanks to you that I got to come here at all. But honestly, looking at it now, this country's capital isn't even as bustling as our provincial capital. There are just more cars."
"We arrived at night. It might look different in daylight tomorrow," Li Long said as he ate. "Let's see if we can go out for a walk tomorrow."
While talking, he was also listening to Liu Shanmin and his wife in the kitchen.
"Tomorrow, I'll sell those things off and bring back some butter while I'm at it. In the afternoon, take some white sugar and butter over to your parents. Aren't they running short of food again...?"
