Li Long really did have things of his own to attend to. More people had been coming to buy pesticides, seeds, and fertilizer lately. The Fourth Team was not alone in reclaiming wasteland; some villages and townships to the north also had large stretches of it.
Some of that land had fairly good soil, more like marshland, covered in reeds and other grasses. Once reclaimed, it could be planted with grain straightaway, making it much better than the saline-alkali land the Li family had reclaimed.
There were preferential policies for reclaiming wasteland, and fertilizer increased grain yields, so agricultural supplies were gradually becoming sought-after goods.
Li Long was now glad he had obtained the paperwork to sell agricultural supplies early on. His supply channels were running smoothly, too. Although he had not sold much in agricultural supplies over the past two years, he had bought wholesale every year. The quantities were small, but at least the connection had never been broken.
Now it was coming in handy.
For this purpose, Li Long had even set aside a large warehouse specifically for agricultural supplies. Watermelon purchasing had basically stopped for now, and there were only a dozen or so tons in storage. He would leave them there for the time being and sell them if a buyer came along. Otherwise, they could stay there.
The warehouse was then filled with agricultural supplies, stacked separately.
Selling agricultural supplies involved lots of small transactions, but it certainly made money... Of course, not as much as Li Long made selling hides, but to Li Qingxia, this was what normal business looked like.
Li Long's way of doing things was, in the language of later years, "cult"-an unconventional operation. In Li Qingxia's view, it made money, and plenty of it, but probably would not last.
