When Li Long woke, the room was already bright. He heard noises outside and figured Tao Daqiang must have got up and started working.
He rubbed his face, then his eyes, and felt some crust in them. Was his liver fire running high?
He had started paying attention to his health in the latter half of his previous life and was rather sensitive to these things. He stretched and got up, feeling full of energy again.
Being young was wonderful. However tired he was the day before, a night's sleep left him full of life again, unlike when he had been in his fifties and sixties in his previous life, when a day's hard work took ages to recover from.
He got up, dressed, and opened the door. Dazzling sunlight streamed in. Li Long squinted and saw Tao Daqiang chopping wood.
Tao Daqiang turned, saw Li Long coming out, and said with a smile:
"Brother Long, you're up? Breakfast's ready. Rice porridge and unleavened flatbread. I made a cold mushroom salad too. Wash up and eat. I've already eaten."
"Okay." Li Long went to the water for a quick wash, then sat at the table to eat. As he ate, he said:
