Li Long had not expected Second Older Brother and Brother-in-law to plan on moving here for good.
He had changed the course of a few more lives.
At the moment, though, Li Long was worrying about the conditions outside. It had snowed for an entire day and night.
As soon as dawn broke and the snow stopped, Li Long came out of the room at Old Ma's Place and began clearing snow. He had cleared it once halfway through the snowfall yesterday and again before dark, so although the snow outside was deep, the layer in the yard was only a handspan thick and fairly easy to shovel.
Uncle Lao Luo was cooking in the kitchen. Hearing the noise, he pushed the door open for a look, smiled, and went back to his work.
If he had been living here alone, he might not have finished clearing all this snow in a whole day.
Li Long rather missed having Second Older Brother, Brother-in-law, and the other two around. They had cleared snow so quickly.
He was using a large snow pusher he had nailed together in the autumn. The ground in the yard at Old Ma's Place was relatively level, making the work fairly straightforward. Even so, by the time Uncle Lao Luo called him, he had only cleared a third of it.
Fortunately, he had pushed all the snow outside yesterday. Old Ma's Place stood considerably higher than the surrounding ground, so he could simply push the snow out and pile it on the wasteland on either side without having to move it again.
After breakfast, Uncle Lao Luo went to feed the animals in the pens. Li Long finished pushing away the remaining snow, then went to his eldest brother's house.
Li Jianguo's whole family was clearing snow.
