Kuytun had once been a garrison town, located five kilometers north of the Wuyi Highway. Right at the turnoff stood a fairly large and busy military way station. Military vehicles, supplies, and new recruits or veterans being transferred from Wu City would usually stop here for a rest.
Several military units had once been stationed in KT City too, but during several major military reorganizations, they had either been disbanded or reorganized and redeployed, leaving few behind.
Li Long breathed a real sigh of relief when he spotted the military way station from his tractor.
Although he had taken breaks along the way after driving out from home, the tractor's constant vibration still left him feeling as though his entire body, internal organs included, was shaking. It would take an hour or so to recover.
Now that he was almost at his destination, he naturally felt a little happier. He needed a good rest tonight!
He turned the tractor right onto the road to KT City and, following his memory, drove straight to the northern part of town, where KT City's First Construction and Installation Company was located.
Of course, the place was currently close to the outskirts, with farmland farther north. Decades later, though, it would effectively be in the middle of town. First, many Seventh Agricultural Division work units and residential buildings would be developed to the north, followed by parks and scenic attractions.
As for the vegetable growers who had originally farmed the urban fringe north of the construction and installation company, they all became wealthy after their greenhouses were demolished for redevelopment. People had once looked down on those who farmed here, most of whom were outsiders. Later, they became the envy of everyone.
The world really was a strange place.
Li Long drove the tractor
