They had bagged so much this time that the tractor beds were filled level, leaving the militiamen to sit on the sideboards. Fortunately, wooden planks had been tied onto them before they came, so their backsides would not get too cold.

"Anyone still empty-handed?" Xu Chengjun asked loudly beside the tractors, holding the Mongolian Gazelle he had shot.

No one answered.

On this last round, the Mongolian Gazelles had been spread out enough to give everyone plenty of time to aim, so even those who had missed before had bagged one.

After all, everyone brought along this time was a good shot. Their early misses had been partly because of the distance and partly because of nerves. Shooting live targets was different from shooting stationary ones, after all.

But once everyone had fired and gone through two or three rounds, they stopped being nervous.

"I'll give the Team Office a whole one," Li Long said. "I've got plenty here."

He had shot four by himself, three Mongolian Gazelles and one antelope, the largest haul of anyone.

Xu Chengjun chuckled. "A seasoned hunter, all right. Everyone's been envying how much meat your family eats these past two years. With shooting like that, and hunting like that, how could you not have plenty?"

Then he turned to the others.

"Look at you lot. Your marksmanship's just as good, and some of you shoot even better than Li Long, but what did you bag today? Whether you get meat to eat depends on your own abilities, too! All right, Xiao Long, the Team Office will take this gazelle of yours."
