After breakfast the next day, Gu Xiaoxia went to work. By February, the weather was no longer so cold, and most of the snow had been cleared from the roads. Once she got used to walking on them, they did not feel so slippery either.
Although Li Long still would not let Gu Xiaoxia ride a bicycle, she would no longer let him take her to work. She went by herself.
She said nobody was that delicate these days-Sister Wang at work had already been laughing at her behind her back.
Li Long did not insist. He merely reminded her to be careful.
After Gu Xiaoxia left for work, Li Long first went to get the stove going in the glass room. Over the three days of the New Year, he had cleared out most of the vegetables in the beds. The chives had suffered a little frost damage, but nothing serious. Once the stove was going and the temperature rose, they visibly began growing again.
There was still a month and a half before the snow melted. Li Long had no plans to plant much else, just little Chinese cabbage. The coriander and celery were slowly growing too.
They would simply add some variety to their meals. Truth be told, his elder sister-in-law, Liang Yuemei, had been the happiest about the greens he brought home for the New Year. Fresh greens in the depths of winter were a real rarity.
Even his sister Li Xia and his second sister-in-law Chen Lirong had asked curiously where the vegetables came from.
After hearing how Li Long grew them, they could only feel disappointed. For now, they had no way to replicate it.
After warming up the glass room, Li Long returned to clean the kitchen and prepare the ingredients for lunch
