With his frequent trips into the mountains, Li Long had developed his climbing skills. One stride of his long legs covered more than a meter. He might not have taken slopes and gullies as easily as level ground, but he certainly moved at a flying pace.
He left the Jeep outside the Jade Mountain River Family's Winter Camp, locked it, and headed into the mountains with his gun and backpack.
Taking a different direction along an unfamiliar ridge, Li Long looked ahead and felt that the terrain here was rather different from what he had seen before.
Two or three ranges into Heavenly Mountain, the terrain branched into numerous gullies running lengthwise and crosswise. Usually, a large longitudinal gully formed by a watercourse had many smaller gullies branching off on either side like fish bones.
That was fairly standard terrain.
The less standard kind had a winding longitudinal gully with all sorts of irregular side gullies snaking away from it.
The mountains before him had steep slopes and deep gullies. They were not particularly large, but they overlapped in layers that stretched beyond sight.
They were unlike the mountains he had seen before, which, though arranged in layers, were less densely packed, with occasional gentle slopes and small stretches of grassland between them.
Looking out over this stretch, he could hardly see anywhere with gentle terrain.
Would there be game here?
Li Long was a little doubtful.
But since I'm already here, I might as well keep going.
His backpack held food, bags, matches, and a lighter.
He had a gun in his hands, so he was not afraid.
He was only worried that he might not bag any game in the afternoon he had available.
There were many wild animals in the mountains, but spread across that vast expanse,
