When they reached the market and got out, Jade Mountain River and Harimu took it a little better, but Bek's first words were:
"There are so many people!"
Yes, in the mountains, even at a gathering, the most they ever saw was twenty or thirty people.
Even on an occasional trip to the Pastoral Team, forty or fifty was the absolute limit.
But here? Though it was the dead of winter, between the people shopping at the market, those selling things around it, and the shopkeepers calling for customers at their doors, there had to be at least several hundred people in sight, right?
"We don't even have this many sheep!" Talihaal said after thinking for a moment. "Looking at all these heads makes me a little dizzy."
Li Long thought, If this many people make you dizzy, you'd probably need an ambulance on the spot if you went to Six Star Street on a summer evening forty years from now. Now that would be a crowd. You wouldn't see any scenery, just people's heads.
As for the other attractions said to be seas of people, he had never visited them, so he couldn't comment.
"Come on, I'll show you around." After parking the Jeep and locking the doors, Li Long spoke to Jade Mountain River and the others.
They followed Li Long around inside.
Their group was quite an unexpected sight, and plenty of people watched them from a distance. There were relatively few ethnic minority people in County Town, and with Li Long leading several formally dressed men from shop to shop, introducing everything, they looked a little like a tour group or a visiting delegation.
Now that was something to draw a crowd.
"This is the tack shop. Some of the saddles I bought came from here."
