After the factory director left, Section Chief Hu gave Li Long a thumbs-up.
"Comrade Li, you really are efficient! Thank goodness you delivered the sheep before we got off work, or I would have embarrassed myself today."
As he spoke, he turned and swore at Xiao Wang.
"You little bastard, were you the one who spread the word? How else did the whole factory find out I was bringing in sheep?"
Feeling rather wronged, Xiao Wang was just about to defend himself when someone came out of the factory and asked with a smile:
"Section Chief Hu, is this our New Year benefit? Very nice. That mutton looks fresh. You're doing a fine job as head of logistics!"
"Oh, not at all. I'm only doing my job. Secretary Xu, once we divide up the mutton, I'll deliver yours to your home!" Section Chief Hu's expression changed at once as he replied with a smile.
"Section Chief Hu, could we unload and weigh them first? We still have to get back to Ma County today," Li Long hurriedly said once Section Chief Hu finished speaking. "Time won't wait for us."
"Of course, of course." Section Chief Hu was delighted now. Having made such a good impression on the director and secretary, he no longer cared about that little matter with Xiao Wang.
Watching them leave, Xiao Wang, the gatekeeper, made a show of wiping sweat from his brow. Only then did he decide that Li Long was a decent fellow. His timely intervention had saved Xiao Wang from a thorough scolding.
Li Long and Tao Daqiang drove the horse cart after Section Chief Hu to the logistics warehouse.
"Luo Laosi, hurry and wheel the platform scale over! We've got a big job!" Section Chief Hu called loudly from the warehouse entrance.
