After leaving his eldest brother's house, Li Long did not head straight back. Instead, he went to Liang Dacheng's house.
The Drag-Net Device was kept at the Team, and Li Long had not bothered with it since his last catch. When he asked about it today, he learned that Dad had not gone fishing again, and Tao Daqiang and Xie Yundong had only gone once. The three Liang brothers, however, had made several devices of their own based on it and were now catching fish practically every day.
That was understandable. Of the three Liang brothers, even Liang Dacheng was still unmarried. Getting all three married, building houses, buying furniture, and covering everything else would cost a great deal.
The three brothers were hardworking, too, taking on anything that made money. They were already living much better than most people in the village.
But they were still working at it.
When the Jeep reached the Liang home, Li Long saw Liang Dacheng and Liang Shuangcheng sorting nets in the yard.
Seeing Li Long's Jeep stop outside the gate, Liang Dacheng stopped working. Once Li Long got out, he asked with a smile:
"Xiao Long, you're back? Need something?"
"Yes. I wanted to ask whether you've set any nets in Little Haizi today."
"We have. Four nets," Liang Dacheng replied.
"Two with three-and-a-half-finger mesh, two with four-finger mesh," Liang Shuangcheng added.
"Good. You're pulling them up first thing tomorrow, right?" Li Long asked.
"Yes, bright and early. If there are fish, we'll take the Tractor straight to Stone City to sell them."
"If you get any big ones tomorrow, save me a few. Common carp would be best, but five-stripe perch will do too," Li Long said. "I'll come get them at first light."
"Sure thing." Liang Dacheng nodded.
"All right.
