Tsushima Kingdom, the docks.
This was an unavoidable stop on the route from the Imperial Court to Wa Island.
The kingdom was tiny, and because it was closer to Yamatai, it was also a member of the Yamatai Alliance.
Yamatai at the time was actually more like a tribal alliance such as the Xianbei.
Yamatai dispatched grandees to these small kingdoms. These so-called grandees were similar to the Imperial Court's inspectors: they had no authority to administer government affairs in the kingdoms where they served, but they could inspect the localities on the queen's behalf.
The chief officials in each locality, who handled government affairs, were called great Wa. They were rather like... governors stripped of military and political authority, or more like township assistants specifically tasked with collecting taxes.
The officials who constantly traveled around conducting inspections under the queen's edicts were called Dai-shuai, somewhat like attendants bearing imperial credentials.
In any case, their domestic system of offices was rather rudimentary, much of a muchness with that of the Xianbei alliance.
The queen had attendants around her who were responsible for offering her all manner of advice.
The distance from Jinhan to the Tsushima Kingdom was very short.
The two were practically right next to each other.
Wen Yang's army reached the place in very little time.
When this enormous fleet appeared off the Tsushima Kingdom, the local grandee was frightened out of his wits.
When his subordinates informed him that a massive fleet was approaching from afar, he had thought little of it. But when he personally led his troops out to look, Wen Yang nearly frightened his eyeballs out of their sockets.
Tsushima itself was a small island.
Over the years, it had seen its share of visitors, including quite a few fleets.
