After what Ye Yaodong had said yesterday, Ye Eldest Sister-in-Law and Ye Second Sister-in-Law really were a little curious. What could have happened to Eldest Cousin's Wife?

After tidying up their homes early that morning, they headed to Ye Yaohong's house together.

They figured that even if nothing had happened, it would be good to visit, chat with Eldest Cousin's Wife, and get closer to her. Perhaps whatever slipped through her fingers in the future would be enough to feed them.

They had not invited Lin Xiuqing that morning, either. They knew she would not go even if they asked, so they simply said goodbye and left.

Lin Xiuqing was hanging clothes outside and did not mind at all. Whatever had happened, she would find out when they returned.

Ye Yaodong was watering the vegetable patch with his two children and paid them no attention, either.

They had all thought the women would be gone for quite a while. Surely they would at least sit down and chat a little. Instead, they returned in no time.

"Back so soon?"

Ye Eldest Sister-in-Law and Ye Second Sister-in-Law looked indecisive and merely gave a distracted reply.

Their expressions left both husband and wife puzzled.

"What happened? Why those faces? Weren't you going to chat with Eldest Cousin's Wife? Why are you back so soon?"

"There were lots of villagers gathered around Cousin's house, all wanting to invest money. We're wondering whether we should invest now, too. Apparently, he's leaving in a little while."

"Huh? Didn't he say he'd come back for the winter solstice? Aren't the people at the county office still waiting for him to come back so they can put him in the paper? Why the rush? Why is he suddenly leaving?" Lin Xiuqing asked in surprise.
