All along the way, Father Ye had wanted nothing more than to stuff the handkerchief he used to wipe his nose into both their mouths. Who knew how they had so much to say? They had chattered all the way to their destination without even getting thirsty.

Where did all that nonsense come from? He had no idea!

As soon as A-Guang stopped the bicycle, he grabbed his bamboo flask and took a big mouthful of water, swished it around, and spat it out. Only then did he gulp down another mouthful.

"I thought you two weren't thirsty."

"He's infuriating. Dad, good thing you don't live with him."

"Enough. Stop talking, both of you. Save your breath. Listening to you gives me a headache."

"Then let me say one more thing." A-Guang glared at Ye Yaodong. "You're pedaling when we head back to town."

Ye Yaodong glanced at him. "I know, I know. Your legs are weak."

"Fuck, try it yourself later. Pedal a bicycle for two hours and see if your legs don't go weak!"

His head aching, Father Ye simply left the two of them behind and headed into the shipyard first.

The two behind him stopped bickering and hurried after him.

The shipyard looked somewhat run-down. Its iron gate was covered in rust, though the walls were all right, simply built from piled stones. One side of the gate stood open, with no restrictions on people coming and going. Ordinary people would not come here anyway, and there were workers working in the yard day and night.

This was the only shipyard around their county seat.

It could be said that more than half the county's large boats had come out of this yard. The rest might have come from other places, or perhaps from the city.
