Ye Yaodong turned the boat around and headed toward the submerged reef. But just as he stopped the boat and was about to retrieve the buoy, another huge school of cuttlefish passed before his eyes.
"Ah! Quick, Eldest Maternal Cousin, get the net! Another big school of cuttlefish is passing through..."
He called out as he grabbed the net, gave it a few quick adjustments, then impatiently cast the whole thing out.
With no branches around, he did not have to avoid anything this time. His net caught the tail end of the school squarely. Eldest Maternal Cousin reacted quickly too, casting another net beside him.
They hauled both nets back aboard together.
Ye Yaodong could not help saying, "I should've ignored my dad and stayed right there. We'd barely left before another school came through."
"We weren't too late. We happened to pass right by them. This net has much more than the earlier ones. Once they get near that small island ahead, they'll probably split up."
After all, they had placed plenty of incubators around the island. Once the cuttlefish split up around it, even fewer would keep swimming onward.
Presumably, they had not reached the coastal waters yet.
"Good grief, this really is much heavier than before."
"We could keep waiting here..." Eldest Maternal Cousin grimaced as he hauled his net, veins bulging on his forehead and beads of sweat dripping down.
The midday sun beat straight down from overhead, but they were standing by the gunwale, where the sunshade above did not quite cover the edges.
Ye Yaodong was sweating profusely in the sun too, but his sun hat soaked it up before it could run down.
With grunts of effort, they each hauled their bundle of catch aboard and flung it onto the deck. Pfft,
