Even after Father Ye finished sorting the pomfret, he had not noticed that the fishing boat had traveled far away. The sea was vast, and he had not been watching their direction the whole time, so it was normal that he did not know.
Ye Yaodong knew his limits, too. Once he had gone far enough, he turned around and headed back. The large net below remained spread wide, trapping anything that entered its range with no chance of escape.
When he saw that enough time had passed, he stopped the boat and went to the stern to haul in the net without waiting for Father Ye to call him. This time, however, the net felt even heavier.
Father Ye was delighted, too. Heavy meant a bigger catch.
When they dragged the net up the ramp onto the deck, both father and son widened their eyes in delight!
"Croaker? Large Croaker?"
Ye Yaodong lunged forward excitedly and pulled the huge meagre out of the catch. "Holy shit, we've struck it rich, Dad! This one definitely weighs fifty jin. We're going to be rich!"
Father Ye hurried forward to help move the Large Croaker aside on its own. Beaming, he said, "Good heavens, we really have struck it rich! We haven't caught anything big in over half a month. Its head is bigger than your face."
"This makes it all worthwhile. With this one fish, we won't have to go out to sea for half a month."
Father Ye's weathered face blossomed into a smile, too.
This was a Large Croaker!
Most common Croakers weighed no more than ten jin. The one they had caught was enormous; from lifting it just now, it definitely weighed over fifty jin. Even fishermen who had fished for decades had never seen a Large Croaker
