Background / History

Yu Huatian awakens in the Divine Continent inside the body of Ming’s West Depot governor, a character he admired in his previous life. He inherits the original owner’s memories, position, and martial abilities. His familiarity with several martial-arts stories helps him recognize important figures, but the continent combines those stories into a setting divided among six major rival dynasties 1.

The original owner became the West Depot’s first commander through Consort Wan’s patronage, with Su Huirong’s recommendation also contributing to his rise. Although feared for his cruelty and ambition, he wanted to use his authority to change an incompetent, unjust court. The transmigrated Yu Huatian accepts that unfinished ambition while resolving to survive and gain enough power to escape dependence on others 1 13 14 17.

His inherited body is that of a eunuch. Unlike his predecessor, who largely subordinated romance to martial power and authority, he retains an interest in women and hopes eventually to find a way to restore his body. He postpones that search until he can secure his survival and reach greater martial heights 4.

Appearance

  • Face and build: Delicately handsome features, fair skin, and an aloof, immortal-like appearance; he initially appears around twenty 1.
  • Signature clothing: Favors silver-white python robes, later paired with a silvery-white cloak 1 38 50.
  • Bearing: Stately and imperious in official dress, with an authority that does not require visible anger 1.
  • Travel disguise: Wears ordinary white martial-artist clothing while operating separately from his main forces in the desert 22.
  • Later signature weapon: Carries the Heavenly Sword at his waist after taking it from Abbess Miejue 33 38 50.

Personality

Yu Huatian is proud, calculating, ambitious, and ruthless toward opponents. He engineers confrontations rather than waiting for them, exploits divisions among rival institutions, and kills people who insult or threaten him. His treatment of Feng Lidao is especially uncompromising: he refuses to tolerate a lookalike who could impersonate him and jeopardize his position 1 3 9 25 43.

His ambition extends beyond dominating the martial world. He wants to control Ming and change its corrupt political order, ultimately becoming its “uncrowned king.” Dependence on Consort Wan and the emperor intensifies his determination to place his life beyond another person’s control 17 25 49.

He treats his own people more generously than outsiders. He arranges burials and family compensation for fallen agents, provides cultivation manuals to his subordinates, and promises Su Huirong protection and honor. Nevertheless, kindness and recruitment often serve his political goals as well 4 14 35 41 49.

Despite accepting killing, he does not want to become an indiscriminate murderer or lose his remaining humanity. After the Dragon Gate Inn slaughter, he rests to recover from its mental strain. He also inherits the original owner’s fastidious cleanliness and feels uncomfortable after killing even when no blood touches him 4 38.

Abilities & Skills

Strongest Villain System

A system that grants martial arts and items and converts plundered fate—also called destiny or fortune—into rewards and skill improvements 1 20 37.

  • Killing Zhao Huaian awards 8,088 fortune; later battles raise his reserves above 100,000 3 36 48.
  • A silver draw costs 10,000 points; a gold draw costs 100,000 20 37.
  • Ordinary martial-art rewards initially transmit knowledge, not complete practical mastery; further points can purchase cultivation experience and technique comprehension 20.
  • After developing the Fourteenth Sword, he finds no upgrade marker for the next variation and concludes that further development requires his own comprehension 42.

Sunflower Manual

His principal internal cultivation art and swordsmanship foundation, granted at complete mastery by the system 1.

  • Includes four internal-cultivation stages, seventy-two sword forms, medicinal qi-cultivation methods, and needle techniques 1.
  • Produces highly destructive true qi that manifests with an icy force in combat 3 18 29.
  • Its sword forms let him defeat Liu Xi when the Energy-Absorbing Great Method disrupts his qi circulation 10 18.
  • His firm foundation prevents Liu Xi from draining his true qi, but does not prevent interference with its use 10.
  • Requires castration to avoid the dangerous inner fire and qi deviation associated with its fiercely yang energy 18.

Thirteen Life-Taking Swords

An aggressively offensive sword art in which every form aims to kill rather than defend 20.

  • Can be alternated with the Sunflower Manual’s sword forms to change the rhythm of an attack 29.
  • Its original thirteen forms reach a ceiling that neither he nor Yan Shisan can surpass through those forms alone 40.
  • Fourteenth Sword: Links the preceding variations through the principle of life emerging from extreme death 40.
  • The newly comprehended technique destroys a tornado and later wounds the Great Grandmaster Li Qiushui 46 47.
  • His opening Fourteenth Sword against Li Qiushui consumes roughly two-thirds of his true qi; the technique is still immature at that point 46.

Innate Body-Piercing Formless Sword Qi

Guan Qi’s supreme art, obtained through a gold draw rather than through a documented teacher–disciple relationship 37.

  • Begins with five Finger Sword transformations: Toe, Dominating, Yielding, Upright, and Flicking Sword 37.
  • Projects sword qi without a physical sword or other medium; at full mastery, it can be released with a thought 37.
  • Its power depends on the practitioner’s internal energy 37.
  • Kills Yue Buqun and Ning Zhongze as they flee 42.
  • Serves as a concealed attack against Li Qiushui after a Fourteenth Sword feint, wounding her and making her wary 47.

Star-Absorbing Great Method

A support art that absorbs another person’s internal energy 37.

  • Absorbed energies can conflict with the practitioner’s own cultivation and cause backlash or qi deviation 37.
  • Yu Huatian believes moderate absorption followed by gradual conversion into Sunflower true qi can manage this risk 37.
  • Warns his subordinates about the danger when giving them the manual 49.

Dragon-Capturing Skill

A Shaolin supreme art used to retrieve objects or seize enemies from a distance 37.

  • Fully mastered through the system for 2,000 fortune points 37.

Hidden Weapons and Three-Pronged Sword Art

His self-devised sword art includes flying-sword attacks, supplemented by the Sunflower Manual’s needle techniques 20 29.

  • Launches two concealed short swords from his main blade 29.
  • Kills Lei Bin by overpowering his flying needles and driving the short swords through his chest 29.
  • Uses hidden weapons sparingly after mastering the Sunflower Manual, but remains highly proficient with them 29.

Strategy, Intelligence, and Poison

Combines familiarity with martial-world figures, West Depot intelligence, and calculated deployments 1 28 31.

  • Leaks Li Zhong’s location to lure Zhao Huaian into a prepared confrontation 1 3.
  • Waits for the East Depot’s factions to fight before surrounding them with his forces 6 9.
  • Uses agency records to identify the Four Great Constables 31.
  • Poisons Zhao Min’s forces before killing their incapacitated experts 45.
  • Recruits capable fighters to reduce the West Depot’s dependence on his personal intervention 41 42.

Combat Limits

  • Judges that Zhang Wuji may be stronger than him in a one-on-one fight 34.
  • Can wound a Great Grandmaster, but Li Qiushui’s superior true qi still inflicts severe internal injuries through his defenses 46 47 48.
  • Remains at Peak Grandmaster after recovery; concludes that increasing internal-energy quantity alone is insufficient for a breakthrough 48.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Three-Pronged Sword — Main early weapon, with two short swords concealed alongside its blade for hidden-weapon attacks 9 25 29.
  • Heavenly Sword — Taken after killing Abbess Miejue; used against Li Zhenzhen and in the duel with Yan Shisan 33 39.
  • Violet Mist Manual — Taken from Yue Buqun’s body and later offered to his subordinates as a superior internal-cultivation art 42 49.
  • Four poisons and a Lesser Restoration Pill — Rewards from five bronze draws 4.
  • Great Restoration Pill — Swallowed after fighting Li Qiushui; heals damaged organs, meridians, and accumulated hidden ailments 47 48.
  • Black Jade Intermittent Ointment — System reward capable of repairing severe bone injuries; retained while he considers a visit to Wudang 37 48.

Relationships

  • Su Huirong — Palace informant saved by his predecessor; deeply devoted to him and pregnant with the emperor’s child. Yu Huatian offers her a choice about her future and promises her honor in this life and reunion in another 14.
  • Consort Wan — Patron whose favor secured his command. He accommodates her intimate demands for political necessity but increasingly resents his dependence on her 4 5 17.
  • Tianqi Emperor / Zhu Youxiao — Sovereign and source of his official authority. Rebukes his power struggles, appoints Cao Zhengchun to block his East Depot takeover, and commissions the treasure expedition 13 16.
  • Tan Luzi — Trusted intelligence subordinate; promoted to deputy director when Ding Xiu joins 1 6 11.
  • Ma Jinliang — First division chief and dependable frontline fighter. Yu Huatian encourages him to seek swordsmanship guidance from Yan Shisan 3 42 49.
  • Ding Xiu — Initially hired for 2,000 taels to kill Zhao Jingzhong, then recruited as the West Depot’s second chief 6 11.
  • Zhao Tong — Close subordinate who guards private meetings and accompanies his smaller desert party 14 22.
  • Yan Shisan — Assassin turned subordinate. Yu Huatian spares him after their duel and recruits him through appeals to swordsmanship, conviction, and public duty 39 40 41 42.
  • Cao Zhengchun — East Depot rival imposed by the emperor; intends to let Yu Huatian’s martial-world enemies undermine his rise 13 50.
  • Zhu Wushi — Political rival whose Energy-Absorbing Great Method and suspected concealed strength concern him 11 18 48.
  • Lu Xiaofeng — Temporary expedition companion who recognizes his abilities and reformist potential, but remains wary of his cruelty and immense ambition 38 42 43 49.
  • Dongfang Bubai — Fellow Sunflower Manual practitioner. Sends him intelligence as repayment after learning that Yilin is his long-lost sister 34 38.
  • Zhao Huaian — The original owner’s fated enemy; lured to Great Enlightenment Temple and killed in their first documented duel 1 3.
  • Li Qiushui — Great Grandmaster opponent at Blackwater City; wounded by his concealed techniques but leaves him severely injured 46 47.

Story Role / Major Arcs

East Depot Power Struggle

After Wan Yulou’s death, Yu Huatian uses the East Depot’s instability to eliminate Zhao Huaian and maneuver against its surviving factions. He deliberately leaves Li Zhong alive as a useful counterweight, hires Ding Xiu against Zhao Jingzhong, and personally kills Liu Xi. The emperor halts his attempt to absorb the institution by appointing Cao Zhengchun as its acting director 1 3 6 9 10 13.

Dragon Gate Inn and the Martial Sects

Ordered to recover the Great White Upper Kingdom’s treasure, he departs with West Depot fighters and Northern Office commanders. Operating partly in disguise, he kills Huang Xiao and Bao Butong, survives the Black Stone ambush, and kills Ling Yanqiu when she seeks revenge for Zhao Huaian 16 18 22 23 25 28 29.

He then enters the larger battle between court forces and martial factions, killing Jing Wuming, Abbess Miejue, and Li Zhenzhen while collecting fortune. The slaughter drives several sects into retreat, supplies the resources for new system rewards, and establishes the reputation later expressed in his “White-Clad Killing God” nickname 32 33 36 37 50.

Yan Shisan and Blackwater City

His duel with Yan Shisan leads to the Fourteenth Sword and the recruitment of another major fighter. After learning that Yue Buqun commissioned the assassination, he kills Yue Buqun and Ning Zhongze, then advances into the revealed ancient city 39 40 41 42.

At Blackwater City, he eliminates Feng Lidao and competing looters, poisons Zhao Min’s forces, and kills Zhao Min and her experts. Li Qiushui intervenes to protect the remaining Western Xia forces. Yu Huatian wounds her through powerful and concealed sword techniques, but collapses afterward and must be rescued by his allies 43 45 46 47.

Recovery and Return to the Capital

The Great Restoration Pill heals his injuries, but does not raise his realm. Recognizing the need for a qualitative breakthrough, he considers seeking guidance from Gu Santong and plans a visit to Wudang. He also shares cultivation resources with his subordinates during the journey home 48 49.

After returning with the treasure, he learns that the emperor fell into the water and became ill. Suspecting Lu Wenzhao’s involvement, he rushes to the palace while reinforcing the Northern Office commanders’ allegiance. Cao Zhengchun meanwhile prepares to exploit the enemies created by his desert campaign 50.
