An explosion rivaling the earlier Magic Missile bombardment rang out. Son of Heaven's defenses did nothing, and he was reduced to ashes in the blast.
At the same time, the sphere of light continued spreading rapidly, instantly engulfing an area nearly a thousand meters across. Even Blood Emperor, fleeing in the opposite direction, failed to escape the blast radius. The sphere caught up with him in an instant and swallowed him.
In a flash, every living creature within the sphere of light was pulverized by the explosion.
Only several seconds later did the white light fade.
A fiery-red feather and a battered cross floated where Blood Emperor and Son of Heaven had died, respectively.
People of their standing naturally carried Resurrection Items, but even Resurrection Items shared cooldowns.
Resurrection Items of the same type had a cooldown of an entire day. For example, if someone carried two Phoenix Feathers, once the first activated, the second could only take effect a day later.
Even different types of Resurrection Items shared a cooldown of about an hour. In other words, however many Resurrection Items someone prepared, no one could resurrect twice within a single hour.
Their deaths now meant they had used up their only available chance at resurrection.
Near the center of the explosion, Son of Heaven reappeared as the battered cross shattered and vanished.
The moment he revived, Son of Heaven wanted to relocate. Before he could act, however, he felt a strange force lock onto his consciousness, leaving his entire body immobilized.
Son of Heaven mechanically raised his head.
Not far ahead, two giants had somehow come within a hundred meters of him: the Female Giant and the giant capable of creating shields.
Son of Heaven could clearly sense that the Female Giant was the one controlling him.
