If he remembered correctly, the encyclopedia entry for the Malformed mentioned that they possessed a special Blood Law, Undying. No matter what injuries they suffered, as long as their heads had not been completely destroyed, they could survive with nothing but their lower brain stems remaining.
In other words, the Church's "purification" back then might not have completely killed the Monster Baby. It had merely appeared thoroughly dead.
Meanwhile, the Red-Clothed Woman in this world, "Lilith," had clearly been nothing more than an ordinary nun. If this Monster Baby was a vampire, there were only two possible outcomes for an ordinary person used as a "blood bag" by a vampire over an extended period: either the blood bag died after being drained dry, or, after dying from blood loss, they were injected with vampire blood, completing the "Embrace" ritual and resurrecting as a vampire.
This was an innate ability of vampires. Even a child who had never received any instruction from vampires could naturally turn others into their own kind.
Moreover, what had happened to Lilith here probably went beyond a simple transformation, because even becoming a vampire would not change someone's nature that quickly.
It was very likely that the Red-Clothed Woman had been entirely replaced by the Monster Baby. As for how it had accomplished that, Mu You did not know. None of the vampire Blood Laws he currently knew of included anything like possession.
