Laboratory Two was in the building next to the one where Professor Connors had his office. The graduate student Peter had encountered tonight had been heading there to work overtime.

The Lizard People had caused quite a commotion, but most of the damage was to the neighboring building, where they had broken through the walls. This building had only felt some noticeable shaking and wasn't badly affected.

Compared with what had happened to Peter, the dead hadn't turned into lizards. They had only developed some symptoms, such as scales and what looked like slit pupils but were actually just useless eyes-they were blind.

More noteworthy was the fact that they had all developed enormous tumors.

What had happened?

Professor Connors soon arrived at the scene and made a guess.

"The tumors grew rapidly. Lizard Serum does speed up cell division, but it couldn't directly cause cancer.

"This looks more like the researchers already had cancer, and then inhaled a genetically modified drug similar to Lizard Serum.

"As for why I say 'similar,' I don't think I need to say more."

The Lizard Serum had turned Peter into a monster, but Peter hadn't died, nor had he immediately developed cancer.

In terms of how complete it was, the serum used by Laboratory Two was far less advanced than Professor Connors's. It hadn't even reached 10% of his progress.

So how had the cancer developed?

"All the dead had tumors in their respiratory organs. I think the carcinogen entered through their airways.

"I know the professor at Laboratory Two. His specialty is inhaled drugs, rather than injectable drugs like mine."

In other words, this might have been a laboratory safety accident. If so, it would be easy to verify.

George made no comment, but he soon received a phone call and got
