[Westbrook: Brain Maggot Gang? I didn't think they could still crawl out of the woodwork.]
[Westbrook: But honestly, we had already noted that you might be from the Brain Maggot Gang. We can remove that now.]
The Brain Maggot Gang was a heavily modified gang much like Maelstrom. The difference was that while Maelstrom favored implants designed to inflict direct damage, they preferred Skill Shards.
Rather than saying they liked implants, it would be more accurate to say they liked knowledge. In some of Night City's oldest archives, the Brain Maggot Gang was also recorded as a gang with frequent cases of Cyberpsychosis, and their Cyberpsychosis was a special condition known as White Matter Mania.
Simply put, they knew too much, and their brains couldn't quite keep up.
Some of their senior members were practically walking computers. Compared to fighting with implants directly, they preferred using their brains to set traps.
Like the Slaughterhouse, they had once been a heavily modified gang active in the North District. The Slaughterhouse favored blades, while the Brain Maggot Gang favored Skill Shards and brain enhancements.
But in the end, both gangs disappeared without a trace. The one that ultimately prevailed was Maelstrom-
Because they accepted anyone and anything. They dared to install even junk picked up off the roadside. Knowledge or bizarre implants, they weren't picky.
And the executioner who wiped out those two gangs just happened to be right here in this room.
Brick wiped down the Cyber-Eye he had taken apart, blew on it, then shoved it back into his "Flame-Gold Eyes" cyberware.
"Brain Maggot Gang? A bunch of sneaky bastards. All they had left was sneaking around. Even ten of them couldn't necessarily take on one of us in a fight.
"The Slaughterhouse was an even bigger piece of shit.
