Left, center, right. Three branching paths.
At first glance, there was no difference between them.
But even as he ran, Luo Chengyou noticed a few clues.
The leftmost passage was brightly lit, clean, and tidy. None of those scalp-prickling masses of black granules were anywhere to be seen, and it was spacious, even a little wider than the main alley beneath his feet.
The middle passage was poorly lit, dark, and filthy, with black matter faintly visible all over it. But it was narrow, barely wide enough for two people to walk abreast.
As for the rightmost passage, Luo Chengyou only had time for a quick glance. It was almost exactly the same as the main alley he was running through now, with virtually no difference.
Which one?
With his life on the line, Luo Chengyou's mind raced.
The first one he ruled out was the rightmost alley.
That one was practically an extension of the alley beneath his feet, no different from the main alley. Some monster was chasing him right now, and entering an identical alley would mean having no chance to escape the danger behind him.
Of course, if he was confident he could keep running at his current speed without being caught by the monster behind him, he could choose the rightmost alley. After all, nothing about it had changed, and it was the most familiar in every respect.
But Luo Chengyou did not think he could keep fleeing forever. Human stamina had its limits. Although he had trained, his stamina had not reached the point where he could run indefinitely. The unchanged alley on the right might be a path to survival for other players, but not for him.
As for the alley on the left, it looked the safest: clean, spacious, bright, and tidy.
