Ward One.
Sweat covered Li Daiping's head. He slipped a hand into his pocket and tightly gripped the One-Time Item he had redeemed-
[False Tear] [A false tear shed by a statue. Swallow it to become a statue, immune to all damage.]
At first glance, this was an extremely useful One-Time Item.
Turning himself into a statue, immune to all damage... it was practically an extra life. And it cost only fifty Spirit Pupils, thirty-one fewer than the [Substitute Doll], which had a similar effect.
But... the [False Tear] had a side effect he could not afford to ignore.
After swallowing the tear, the user's body would become a statue. This did indeed grant immunity to all damage, but the player could not turn back into a human at will.
To change back from a statue into a human, they had to be touched by other players-and by every other player participating in that game.
If there were five people in the game, the user would need to be touched by all four others before they could become human again.
Under those circumstances, if a player had already died, the surviving players would have to bring the dead player's corpse over to "touch" them.
Yet in this game, people could die without leaving an intact corpse, or turn into Vengeful Ghosts after death.
So, compared with its powerful ability to preserve a life, this One-Time Item's side effect was just as chilling.
But... Li Daiping did not dare go without redeeming it.
This was his last life-saving trump card.
This was the Ultimate Game... the Ultimate Game that even Yang had backed away from once.
As he thought about this, he realized he had arrived outside the ward he was looking for.
