The long, narrow alley stretched into the gloom, its end nowhere in sight.
A dim yellow streetlight lit up roughly every ten meters, illuminating the alley.
Thud-
Luo Chengyou's corpse fell between Shen Hai and Xu Tingfang with a dull thud.
The two looked behind them. There was still nothing but thick fog and darkness.
Neither was unfamiliar with this situation. It was just like when they had needed to clear their individual areas earlier: until they cleared it, they weren't allowed to leave.
"Mr. Shen Hai..."
Xu Tingfang called softly.
Without even raising his head, Shen Hai crouched down and began examining Luo Chengyou's corpse closely.
"Are we... going in?" she asked, looking fearfully at the deep, gloomy alley ahead.
Shen Hai had no desire to answer a question that was practically pointless. All his attention was focused on Luo Chengyou's corpse.
Soon, Shen Hai noticed a few clues.
Without question, Luo Chengyou had died horribly, but the state of his corpse also revealed some information.
For instance, he looked as though something had squeezed him forcefully from both sides. His shoulders had collapsed and shattered, and his chest had folded lengthwise, like a mosquito squashed between two palms.
Given that he had died in Nine-Bend Alley, it was hard for Shen Hai not to suspect that the alley itself had crushed Luo Chengyou to death.
In other words, the alley's width wasn't fixed. It could contract.
Looking down, Shen Hai discovered some slime on Luo Chengyou's hands. After examining it carefully, he recognized it. It came from the "Frog Eggs."
This indicated that Luo Chengyou had come into contact with "Frog Eggs" before he died. Strangely, however, his death had nothing to do with them. He had died cleanly, without a single "Frog Egg" attached to his neck.
