Super thoughtful, super convenient.
Jiang Nian took a shower and felt refreshed all over. As soon as he stepped out and rounded the corridor, he spotted three women putting on quite a show in the distance.
He walked closer, heard what they were saying, and was instantly speechless. Fuck, this obnoxious woman was talking shit about your daddy.
Signing up for a gym membership and buying training sessions had initially been a system requirement, but after trying it out, Jiang Nian actually found it pretty good. There was something strangely addictive about working out.
Besides, he had come tonight to complete a mission anyway, so he might as well get straight to the point.
After all, however he looked at it, working out was no loss. Skip leg day at eighteen, and once he got to college, the younger girls would fall silent and the older girls would shake their heads. He would be doomed to stare at their cups and weep in vain.
At the other end of the corridor, Zhao Qiuxue immediately grew nervous.
Sixty sessions? Wasn't that a waste of money?
Classes were cheap in this small county town, at a hundred yuan a session. That was mainly because the trainers weren't particularly professional and rent was low, but sixty sessions still came to six thousand yuan!
Ren Meimei lost her composure. "You're joking, right, kid?"
Jiang Nian had just reached them. He glanced at Ren Meimei. She had a heart-shaped face and wore a pink cropped tank over her large breasts, with tight, butt-hugging yoga pants below.
"Yes, auntie."
"You called me auntie?" Ren Meimei froze, pointing at herself. "How can you be so rude, kid?"
"Why are you so aggressive? Not expecting to live till tomorrow?" Jiang Nian smiled faintly. "Oh, right. I'm a member, and the customer is king."
"You!" Ren Meimei gritted her teeth, then finally turned and stormed away.
Mei Wanling stood watching, dumbfounded, her mouth forming an O. She and Ren Meimei had a little spat every three days and a big fight every five, and she almost never came out ahead.
Wait, was this handsome young guy really that savage?
Zhao Qiuxue couldn't help covering her forehead. She had already experienced Jiang Nian's "civilized language" two days ago. One authentic local insult after another, enough to leave anyone dizzy.
This was nothing compared to that.
Jiang Nian turned to her. "Let's go buy more sessions at the front desk."
At that, Zhao Qiuxue collected her thoughts, stepped in front of Jiang Nian, and spoke seriously.
"Thank you for standing up for me. I appreciate the thought, but you don't need to buy more sessions. You're still a student. Wherever your money came from, don't waste it."
"If we pick up the pace, thirty sessions will be enough for me to take you through everything thoroughly. After that, just ask me whenever there's something you don't understand. You don't need to spend any more money."
"Uh, but I don't want to think." Jiang Nian waved a hand. "I was planning to buy sessions anyway. If I don't work out now, I'll do it in college, and sessions cost more elsewhere."
Zhao Qiuxue thought it over. "You still don't need to buy sessions. I'll coach you for free."
"No, that won't do. Those are two separate things." Jiang Nian didn't want to reveal too much to someone outside his circle, so he joked, "Keep this up and I won't dare come here anymore."
At that, Zhao Qiuxue looked a little helpless.
"All right."
Beside them, the female trainer Mei Wanling's pupils contracted slightly as she looked from Jiang Nian to Zhao Qiuxue. She was utterly stunned. Wait, he was really buying them? That was six thousand yuan!
At the front desk.
Ren Meimei hadn't actually gone far. Buying more sessions had to be done at the front desk. She wanted to see whether that annoying brat was just stubbornly talking big or genuinely had money.
Before long, Jiang Nian came over with the others. Smiling, he explained what he wanted to the sweet girl at reception, scanned the code, and paid in one smooth sequence.
Ren Meimei was stunned. He actually paid?
Surely he'd only bought ten sessions?
Once Jiang Nian left, Ren Meimei walked over with a frown. Seeing the gym's top salesperson approach, the receptionist paused, then greeted her sweetly.
"Meimei, would you like something to drink?"
"No, I just wanted to ask something." Ren Meimei still clung to a sliver of hope. "They... ahem, that customer just now. How many sessions did he buy?"
"Sixty. Why?" the sweet girl asked curiously, before giving another sweet smile. "You're still better, though, Meimei. You can sell hundreds of sessions a month."
Ren Meimei's cheek twitched. How was that remotely the same? Those sleazy old perverts were greasy and lecherous. Unless she let them cop a feel, they wouldn't buy any sessions at all.
Thirty sessions plus sixty sessions-just like that, Zhao Qiuxue had matched the sales she had worked herself to death for two weeks to achieve.
Fucking hell.
[Mission: Purchase sixty additional training sessions. Reward: 30,000 RMB (completed)]
His phone buzzed in his pocket, showing that thirty thousand yuan had arrived in his account.
It was already nine in the evening when Jiang Nian left the gym. Zhao Qiuxue had finished work early and gave him a ride back while she was at it.
Although Jiang Nian had showered at the gym and his clothes had dried, they smelled sour. When the breeze blew, he caught the smell himself, and so did Zhao Qiuxue.
She thoughtfully suggested that he bring a change of clothes next time.
Jiang Nian joked, "That's such a hassle. Wouldn't that mean washing another set of clothes?"
Zhao Qiuxue laughed too. "I'll wash them for you. Then you can change straight into them when you come. You're my big client now. Otherwise, I'd really feel bad."
"Sure." Jiang Nian was only joking too.
If he had a choice, he would much rather have Song Xiyun wash them by hand while crying. Heh heh heh, cute little girl, you wouldn't want your mother to lose her job, would you?
When he returned to the county high school's entrance, there were still twenty minutes before evening study ended.
After watching Zhao Qiuxue leave, Jiang Nian thought for a moment, bought a carry bag at the stationery shop by the school gate, then headed toward the rural credit cooperative's ATM diagonally across the street.
He withdrew twenty thousand yuan in one go, a thick stack.
Jiang Nian calmly put the money into the bag and walked into school as though nothing had happened. Just as he reached the sports field, the bell signaling the end of evening study rang, and the campus immediately came alive with noise.
Carrying the bag, he walked against the flow of people and followed a few students ahead of him upstairs.
In the corridor.
"What took you so long?" Xu Qianqian had her backpack on. It seemed rather heavy, its straps pulled tight. "You came back from outside school? Took leave again?"
"Yeah. I was sick," he said.
The teaching building was brightly lit, and the corridor was packed with people, their noisy voices rising and falling. Warm air washed over them, and the lights stretched into the distance.
Xu Qianqian stood sideways, frowning at Jiang Nian.
"Could you come up with an even bigger lie? You run faster than those sports students. Everyone else in the world could get sick and you still wouldn't. You definitely went out to have fun!"
"I'm telling Auntie Li! She'll give you a beating!"
"Tch." Jiang Nian puffed out his chest and scoffed. "Do you know what I scored, Xu Qianqian? I had an approved leave slip when I went out. You still think you can keep me under your thumb?"
In high spirits, he reached out and patted the fluffy top of Xu Qianqian's head.
"Wait a second. I'll grab my back-
"-pack. I'll buy you milk tea tomorrow."
"I'm not waiting for you!" Xu Qianqian tossed her head. The spot he had touched seemed to tingle with electricity, the heat spreading all the way to her ears and cheeks. "Who wants your stupid milk tea?"
Before long, Jiang Nian came out wearing his backpack. The carry bag was gone.
Xu Qianqian was about to leave, but he caught her and held her back.
"What!"
"Why are your ears red?"
"What's it to you?" Xu Qianqian turned away, her tone fierce, looking rather like she was fleeing. "You talk too much. Anyway, now you owe me two milk teas!"
Thanks to "Must be more diligent" for the one monthly ticket.
