At the hospital.
Brother Feiji sat in the ward peeling an apple, a bandage wrapped around his head.
The redhead lying in bed was still a little pale, dressed in a hospital gown.
"Brother Feiji, that bastard was way out of line! He broke one of Fire Boy's ribs with a single kick!"
The lackey with a shrimp-vein tattoo beside him swore loudly, ignoring the angry looks from everyone else in the ward.
"Why don't we go to the Law Enforcement Team?"
Brother Feiji took a bite of the apple. The redhead called Fire Boy withdrew his outstretched hand, looking aggrieved.
"We settle our own disputes! Besides, didn't he pay our medical bills? Going to the Law Enforcement Team after that would be pretty damn classless, wouldn't it?"
Brother Feiji glared and continued, "Our Motorcycle Gang has a reputation to uphold! If word got out, how would we ever show our faces again?"
The shrimp-vein lackey nodded without quite understanding.
As they spoke, another lackey ran in, wearing driving loafers and a baseball cap.
"Brother Feiji, I'm back!"
His face was flushed and he was panting hard. He grabbed the glass on the bedside table and gulped down a mouthful of water.
Brother Feiji hurried him along. "Well? Did you find out who he is?"
Baseball Cap grinned and patted his scrawny chest. "You can count on me! His name's Chen Jiliao. He's the young master of our Fish City's Chen Group, and he lives in Hao Ting!"
Brother Feiji snorted and took another vicious bite of his apple.
"Chen Jiliao, huh? He clipped my brother's wings, so I'll tear down his whole damn heaven!"
The shrimp-vein lackey said cautiously, "Brother Feiji, he's the Chen Group's young master..."
"So what if he's from the Chen Group? Are kings and nobles born better than the rest of us?" Brother Feiji declared murderously.
He had never been good at school, but he remembered that line clearly. He thought it sounded incredibly badass and had always used it as his profile status.
"Being rich doesn't give him an extra life! I'll show him what happens when a young man loses his temper-blood will spill five paces around him!"
Brother Feiji's speech set the other flashy young punks' blood boiling.
"When the Motorcycle Gang rides out, not a blade of grass survives!"
"The leader of the Motorcycle Gang invites Young Master Chen to his death!"
The elderly man in the next bed kept pounding his mattress as he listened, seemingly swept up in their fervor. His mouth opened and closed, but his words were slurred.
The woman beside him quickly leaned closer. Only after listening for a while did she make out three words.
"Better than Boruto!"
Senior year, Class One.
When their homeroom teacher announced that they would be going to Red Leaf Mountain for a "stress-relief outing" the following week, the entire class erupted in excitement.
This was an annual event at Yucheng No. 1 High School.
With the major exams looming, the seniors were all under intense pressure. For the sake of their physical and mental health, the school organized a trip to Red Leaf Mountain to help them unwind.
"Old Yu, let's go shopping this weekend! Food, drinks... Oh, what do you think about me getting a drone?"
Yu Bu'e sorted the homework he had just collected, preparing to take it to the office. "This weekend? I'm busy."
"Huh? What have you got planned?"
"I've made plans with School Belle Luo."
She hadn't told him what time the Brilliant Star Pavilion auction would start, so he naturally had to keep the whole day free.
Right now, the auction was all he could think about.
Wu Yang raised a hand and gave himself a light slap.
"I shouldn't have asked..."
Despite saying that, he immediately added, "Then send me a list of whatever you need later. I'll buy it all for you!"
"Will do!"
Yu Bu'e finished checking the homework and headed toward the office.
He had just reached the door and was about to knock when he heard voices inside.
"Mr. Gu, did you hear what happened yesterday? Yu Bu'e's Meridian-Opening Pill reached 1.5 million! And he still didn't sell it!"
Hearing his own name, Yu Bu'e stopped, curious.
Then he heard his homeroom teacher's rueful laugh.
"I was planning to borrow a little more over the next couple of days and scrape together nine hundred thousand as soon as possible. Who knew even 1.5 million wouldn't buy it now?"
"Mr. Gu, if you ask me, you've taught Yu Bu'e for three years, after all. Why not talk to him and work something out..."
Before the other teacher could finish, his homeroom teacher interrupted. "Absolutely not! That's precisely why I can't take advantage of the boy.
"Meridian-Opening Pills are all more or less the same, anyway! What really matters is the child's own talent. I'm planning to take a look at the Brilliant Star Pavilion this weekend."
"You... you're just too stubborn."
Outside the door, Yu Bu'e understood what was going on, and his emotions grew complicated.
He had forgotten that Mr. Gu had a son in his first year of high school.
Three years ago, a devastating upheaval in his family had left him drifting through the entire summer in a daze.
On countless dark nights, feeling abandoned by the whole world, he had considered ending it all.
At fifteen, he hadn't been resilient enough. Life had landed a crushing punch squarely in his face, and he couldn't get back up.
After he started high school, his homeroom teacher, Gu Ming, learned about his circumstances and began looking out for him, sometimes openly, sometimes quietly.
Every few days, he would take Yu Bu'e home. His wife would prepare food in advance, and occasionally buy him a couple of new clothes.
Back then, Yu Bu'e struggled to settle down and study, and his grades plummeted. Mr. Gu gave him private lessons at home, gradually helping him bring them back up.
Under that warm, caring attention, Yu Bu'e finally regained hope and slowly learned to live independently.
In truth, if Mr. Gu asked, he would give him a Meridian-Opening Pill without a moment's hesitation.
But he also knew that, with Mr. Gu's personality, he would never ask.
His teacher was terrified of taking advantage of him.
After thinking it over for a long time, Yu Bu'e sighed, finally realizing that even getting a Meridian-Opening Pill into his teacher's hands would be a challenge.
He waited a little longer before taking the collected homework into the office. He greeted his homeroom teacher, then left without saying anything else.
He felt he needed to think this through carefully.
During class, he suddenly remembered that Mr. Gu planned to visit the Brilliant Star Pavilion over the weekend. Inspiration struck, and he sent Luo Feixuan a message.
After he briefly explained the situation, she replied almost immediately.
"That's easy. I have an idea."
Yu Bu'e's eyes lit up, and he hurried to ask her about it.
He spent the entire lesson discussing their approach with Luo Feixuan on his phone, and a solid plan gradually took shape in his mind.
The teacher at the front naturally noticed. He had intended to remind Yu Bu'e to pay attention, but on second thought, there didn't seem to be any need, so he simply turned a blind eye.
When school let out that evening, Yu Bu'e and Wu Yang walked out through the gates together.
He looked around but saw no sign of those flashy young punks.
It seemed Tao Wenye had learned his lesson.
Just then, a voice rang out behind him.
"Yu!"
Yu Bu'e turned toward the voice and raised an eyebrow.
"Song Ziyu from the second year? She's here to see you again!"
Today, Song Ziyu wore a pale yellow qipao that accentuated the curves of her waist and hips. Her slender arms seemed to glow in the setting sun.
She had jogged all the way over and was breathing lightly when she reached him, a loose strand falling from her pinned-up hair.
Wu Yang nudged Yu Bu'e. "Ahem, I'll head off first. You two chat!"
Before leaving, he even gave him an "I get it" look.
A blush spread across Song Ziyu's fair face. Her bright eyes darted away, as though she didn't dare look up and meet the gaze of the man before her.
"Um... Yu, I made these cookies myself. I hope you like them!"
With that, she pushed the tin in her hands into Yu Bu'e's arms, turned, and ran away.
Yu Bu'e watched her retreating figure, then looked down at the small tin in his hands, feeling rather baffled.
Just then, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Enjoying the view?"
"Hey! Who doesn't love a qipao beauty?" he replied offhandedly.
Then he turned and met Luo Feixuan's narrowed eyes, instantly overcome with embarrassment.
"No... I meant... it's a very fresh, understated look..."
Luo Feixuan listened to his explanation, an unreadable expression flickering in her narrowed eyes.
"Heh. Men..."
