The auction wasn't until that evening, so Luo Feixuan returned to Hao Ting No. 3 that afternoon.
As she pushed the door open and felt the oppressive atmosphere in the living room, a faint smile appeared on her lips.
Chen Jiliao, who had been sitting there with a dark expression, abruptly stood up and roared, his eyes bloodshot.
"What are you smiling at? How dare you smile! Luo Feixuan, what the hell are you trying to do?"
Luo Feixuan's gaze remained steady. She looked at Chen Jiliao's disheveled hair and bloodshot eyes with a pleased expression.
"Seeing you so unhappy makes me happy."
Chen Jiliao looked like a raging beast, ready to charge at Luo Feixuan at any moment.
She, however, remained unruffled and leisurely sat down. She glanced at Chen Qiao before lowering her gaze to the contract on the coffee table.
"So, Chairman Chen, have you made up your mind?"
Holding a glass of water, Chen Qiao gave a light cough, his expression calm.
"Chen Jiliao, sit down!"
Chen Jiliao still sounded indignant, and his voice remained loud.
"Dad! I'm telling you, she's behind all of this..."
"I said sit down!" Chen Qiao slammed his glass down on the coffee table.
Chen Jiliao instantly shut his mouth, not daring to make another sound.
He feared his father from the bottom of his heart.
Chen Qiao sighed and rubbed the space between his brows in irritation. "An eight-percent stake. Look over the contract, and sign it if everything is in order."
Luo Feixuan opened the contract, skimmed it, and sneered.
"I remember asking for ten percent."
Chen Jiliao flew into a rage. "Luo Feixuan! Eight percent is already plenty. Don't push your luck!"
"Shut up!" Chen Qiao snapped, unable to understand how he had fathered such an idiot.
Luo Feixuan clearly held the upper hand now.
Angering her at a time like this would do them no good whatsoever.
When he turned to Luo Feixuan, his expression was calm again.
"You know perfectly well that ten percent isn't realistic. Eight percent is the most I can offer."
Sitting on the sofa, Luo Feixuan raised her hand to the light and admired her nails.
"Besides... those incidents involving your brother have already seriously affected the company's share price. Surely you don't want that either?" Chen Qiao continued.
Luo Feixuan snorted and mocked him. "Isn't that all thanks to the wonderful son you raised, Chairman Chen?"
"Bullshit! Luo Feixuan, don't think I don't know you're behind all this!" Chen Jiliao nearly ground his teeth to pieces.
Running someone over and killing them was hardly a big deal to the young master of the Chen Family.
Besides, everything had been covered up perfectly. If not for Luo Feixuan, how could that damned incident have been dug up again?
Luo Feixuan frowned, looking a little impatient. "Why is a child interrupting when the adults are talking?"
Chen Jiliao: "???"
"Before, I would have agreed to eight percent. But now... I'm very dissatisfied." Luo Feixuan stared at Chen Qiao, her gaze sharp.
Chen Qiao nodded slightly. After a moment's thought, he suddenly changed the subject. "I heard a friend of yours was injured?"
Luo Feixuan said nothing, her gaze turning colder.
"Feixuan, I'm your father. If something is troubling you, you can tell me." Chen Qiao smiled. "For example, that friend of yours. It seems someone put his name on the Shadowfeather Pavilion's hit list?"
Luo Feixuan glanced at Chen Jiliao beside him, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
Although the Shadowfeather Pavilion's previous mission had failed, that didn't mean it was over.
If the first attempt failed, there would be a second. Unless she could wipe out the entire Shadowfeather Pavilion, Yu Bu'e would remain in danger.
Chen Qiao continued, "How about this? I'll ask around and find out exactly who's targeting your friend.
"Then, whatever the cost, I'll persuade them to cancel the contract. What do you think?"
After considering it for a moment, Luo Feixuan picked up the documents on the table.
"I'll have my lawyer look them over carefully. Once they're signed, I'll send them back."
"All right. Will you be home for dinner tonight?"
Luo Feixuan gave a cold laugh, stood up, and walked out.
Once she had left, Chen Jiliao spoke anxiously.
"Dad, are you really giving her eight percent of the shares?"
"What else can I do? This is all because you're useless!" Chen Qiao said darkly. "Or haven't you spent enough time locked up? Do you know how much trouble I went to getting you out?"
Chen Jiliao rubbed his messy hair.
He understood perfectly well that although Chen Qiao had found a scapegoat and gotten him out for the time being, he could be sent right back at any moment as long as the public attention didn't die down...
While he was brooding, he suddenly noticed a smile appear on Chen Qiao's face.
He couldn't understand it.
"Dad, you're giving her eight percent of the shares just like that, and you can still smile?"
"Don't you think this is good news?"
"Good news?"
"Yes. She has a weakness now. Didn't you see it?"
Chen Jiliao froze for a moment, then his eyes lit up.
"You mean... that Yu Bu'e?"
Chen Qiao glanced at him and slowly stood up. "Contact the Shadowfeather Pavilion and cancel the contract. Keep a low profile for a while."
"Yes... Um, Dad, could you transfer twenty million to me?"
Chen Qiao's face darkened. "You're out of money?"
"No... It only cost me two million to place the contract with the Shadowfeather Pavilion, but according to their rules, canceling it costs ten times as much..."
His voice grew quieter as he went on.
Chen Qiao's face turned livid. His lips moved, but then he gave a soft sigh.
"The Shadowfeather Pavilion really does know how to bleed people dry..."
At seven thirty that evening.
Manager Wang stood at the entrance with his staff.
When he saw Luo Feixuan and Yu Bu'e, he hurried over at a jog to greet them.
"Miss Luo, Mr. Yu!"
In truth, he knew very little about Yu Bu'e beyond his name.
But given Luo Feixuan's attitude toward Yu Bu'e, even if he collected scrap for a living, Manager Wang would have happily treated him like a lord.
Just as they were about to enter, a surprised voice suddenly sounded behind them.
"Yu Bu'e?"
Yu Bu'e turned around, saw who it was, and grinned.
"Cheng Ruxin, my classmate! What a coincidence!"
Cheng Ruxin strode over, looked at Yu Bu'e, then turned to Luo Feixuan with a frown.
"Feixuan, why did you bring him?"
"So what?" Luo Feixuan gave a light snort.
"Feixuan, don't let him fool you! This guy is just a pretty boy living off women. He has no right to attend the Brilliant Star Pavilion's auction!"
"So what?"
"I..." Cheng Ruxin was furious. Seeing that he couldn't get through to Luo Feixuan, he turned to Manager Wang with a dark expression. "What's wrong with your Brilliant Star Pavilion? Do you let just anyone attend this auction?"
"So wha... Ahem!" Manager Wang quickly caught himself and put on an apologetic smile. "Young Master Cheng, Mr. Yu is Miss Luo's guest. Please... don't put me in a difficult position."
Luo Feixuan chuckled and patted Yu Bu'e's arm.
"Ignore him. Let's go."
"Mm." Watching the jealousy points continually floating up above Cheng Ruxin's head, Yu Bu'e felt even better.
After entering the Brilliant Star Pavilion, they took the elevator to the third floor.
Several young people were chatting outside the auction hall.
Yu Bu'e met one of their gazes, and the other person immediately looked surprised.
He couldn't help sighing inwardly.
This auction was destined not to go smoothly.
