The proprietress felt smug about her idea.
Right, there was this man, too. The proprietress remembered something else: she had never seen Xiao Yu before. He must have sneaked into the inn!
And so, she thought of turning the tables on him and made her next move.
"Kid, watch what you say. You lost your money, and now you're blaming me? Old Wu, get over here! Someone's causing trouble!"
Xiao Yu had come to catch a thief and recover his losses, only for the proprietress to slap the label of "troublemaker" on him.
Wasn't this a textbook case of a guilty conscience?
When someone lost money in your establishment, the normal response should have been to help call the police and cooperate.
At the proprietress's shout,
a strong, burly middle-aged man came in.
He wore a security uniform and had a cigarette dangling from his mouth. The instant he heard the proprietress call, he rushed in from outside the inn to the front desk.
Without the slightest courtesy, he grabbed Xiao Yu by the collar, not caring who was right or wrong, or about anything else.
He immediately tried to drag Xiao Yu outside, speaking with extreme arrogance.
He said, "Kid, you've got the nerve to make trouble on my turf? Get the hell out. If you weren't so young, I'd have already punched you in the face."
For an unlicensed, shady establishment, using violence to settle matters was the most basic and common approach.
The proprietress and Old Wu were both used to this sort of thing.
-When reason failed, they forced a resolution with violence.
Unfortunately, this time they had run into someone they couldn't handle.
Old Wu couldn't budge Xiao Yu at all. He stood utterly motionless, as though Old Wu were grabbing a thick, towering wall.
