After eating and watching a movie at Lin Meng Qiu's place, Chen Shi'an got home at ten that night.
When he opened the door, he caught the same sweet scent of dessert soup.
"Did you make dessert soup again tonight, Sister Wanyin?" Chen Shi'an called into the apartment as he changed into slippers by the door.
"Yes-"
Li Wanyin poked her head out of the kitchen and smiled. "Taro Sago Dessert again tonight. You stayed at Uncle Lin's for dinner this late?"
"Yeah. After dinner, I watched a movie at her place with our class monitor."
"Your class monitor is Uncle Lin's daughter? What's her name? I seem to remember him mentioning he had a daughter."
"Lin Meng Qiu. We're deskmates."
"Oh, you actually have boys and girls sharing desks?"
"Not normally. There just happened to be an odd number of boys and an odd number of girls in our class, so we're the only boy-girl pair of deskmates."
"So Zhi Xia isn't in your class?"
"She's in the top Liberal Arts class."
"Oh, I see."
Li Wanyin didn't give it much thought. Chen Shi'an had a good personality, so it was perfectly normal for him to have lots of friends. There might even be plenty of girls at school secretly admiring him.
But feelings had never been something that could lead anywhere through one-sided wishes alone.
Life outside school revealed more about a person's character. Having lived under the same roof as Chen Shi'an for half a month, Li Wanyin could tell that he really was a very "Taoist-minded" person.
And not the self-proclaimed kind, either. He was a genuine Taoist-minded young man who had actually practiced Taoism, centered on cultivating himself, living simply and freely, calm and detached from worldly affairs.
It gave him a unique charm and
