Once the two of them started doing their homework together, the room fell quiet, leaving only the soft scratching of their pens.
What Lin Meng Qiu had given Chen Shi'an was a math paper.
Chen Shi'an was still a little behind the class in math. This paper was similar to the Monthly Exam paper, with some questions he still didn't know how to solve.
This was the first time in her life that Lin Meng Qiu had done homework at home with a classmate.
She was working on a Chinese paper. Occasionally, her pen would pause, and she would sneak a glance at Chen Shi'an's profile out of the corner of her eye.
He was concentrating on working through the math problems on a sheet of scrap paper. The way his brows occasionally drew together made Lin Meng Qiu feel as though she were watching him take the math portion of the Monthly Exam.
"If there's anything you don't know, you can ask me," Lin Meng Qiu said quietly.
"Mm. Let me finish the paper first." Chen Shi'an didn't even look up, already completely absorbed in the questions.
Lin Meng Qiu's lips flattened. She decided to leave him alone.
But she still couldn't resist turning slightly and leaning closer to him, as though checking his answers.
Chen Shi'an turned his head, and their eyes met.
"Have you finished your Chinese paper, Class Monitor?"
"Mm."
"That was fast."
"I'd already done some of it."
"Oh-why are you looking at me, Class Monitor?"
"-I'm looking at your questions."
"Have you finished all your other homework too, Class Monitor?"
"Mm."
"Then I guess I'm holding you up from doing your math."
"-Just get on with it. I'll watch you do it."
Chen Shi'an blinked, then finally slid the problem he was stuck on
