"We're here~!"
Looking at the ancient town before her, Li Wanyin could not help exclaiming happily.
It was so far from the city center, yet the two of them had actually ridden a bicycle all the way here. Just thinking about it felt crazy.
Above all, Chen Shi'an was impressive. A high school boy's stamina really was a mystery.
After riding so far and so fast, the little brat still looked as though nothing had happened. He showed no sign of flagging and looked positively energetic.
Li Wanyin took out her phone to check the time. It was now one forty in the afternoon. The navigation app had estimated a journey of over two hours, but they had actually taken only around an hour and twenty minutes.
What she did not know was that if Chen Shi'an had been riding alone, he could have gone even faster-
"You're not tired, are you, Sister Wanyin?"
"You were the one pedaling. I didn't move a muscle, so of course I'm not tired. Have some water, Shi'an."
"Mm."
The cat on Chen Shi'an's shoulder jumped down too, landing on the flagstone pavement beside them, stretching and looking curiously around.
Taking the water Li Wanyin handed him, Chen Shi'an drank a mouthful to moisten his throat and looked around.
Unlike the overcommercialized place he might have imagined, this ancient town seemed to retain its original rhythm of life.
The flagstone road wound ahead, flanked by old-fashioned homes with white walls, dark roof tiles, wooden doors, and carved windows. Occasionally, they saw elderly people sitting in their doorways, sunning themselves and chatting. Even time seemed to slow here.
As a lesser-known attraction, Magpie Head Town had remained a place where the residents lived and gathered all these years, rather than somewhere purely for sightseeing.
