The group walked around several classroom buildings and arrived in front of two relatively new six-story buildings.

This was much the same as Yunqi No. 1 High School. Many schools with the resources had guest accommodations, mainly for visitors to the school. Of course, these were generally for ordinary visitors on exchange trips. Officials, experts, and the like were put up in hotels.
Building No. 1 housed teachers, as did the floors below the fourth floor in Building No. 2. There were very few students around this area, though they did see teachers from time to time.
Staying at school for the first time felt novel to Wen Zhixia. She walked with everyone, sticking close to Chen Shi'an and chattering away to him. They went up to the fourth floor together. The corridor was clean and bright, paved with off-white tiles. Rooms 401 and Dormitory 402 were easy to find: they were the two adjoining rooms off to the side at the top of the stairs.
"You all have the keys, so open the doors and take a look. We had the cleaners come through a couple of days ago. They're all four-person rooms, with loft beds over desks, private balconies, and bathrooms. Water and electricity are free."
