Having just said goodbye to Zhang Qiren, Chu Ge instinctively assumed Moon Shadow would bring him up.
But what Moon Shadow said was, "I'll be staying in Nanjiang for a month to help the Nanjiang City police bureau with the Wang Family case. That's my probationary assignment. While I'm here, I can visit Sister Qiu and fulfill my promise to let her study my shadow esper ability."
Chu Ge stared blankly for a long moment before sighing. "There's no need anymore. Qiu Qiu was just curious back then. It wouldn't be much use to her now."
Moon Shadow pressed her lips together. "But I still feel I owe you both."
"Really, don't worry about it. We're neighbors."
"Neighbors..." Moon Shadow hesitated before asking, "Has someone else moved into my room?"
"Not yet. I saw the landlord put up a rental notice outside. It's probably on the local listings app too, but I don't think anyone's even come to look at it yet."
"That's great." A rare hint of a smile appeared on Moon Shadow's face. "There are still some things I haven't had time to move out, like my old computer..."
"Your salary must be pretty good now, right?"
"I'm on probation. It's not much."
"Hmm... Then come move it later. Qiu Qiu and I can give you a hand." Chu Ge thought for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Have you... seen my parents? Are they doing all right?"
Moon Shadow blinked. "Who are your parents?"
"..." Chu Ge scratched his head. "Never mind. Can we work something out? When I return what's inside that box to you, can I keep the box?"
Moon Shadow hesitated. "I don't think the box matters much... but I'll still have to ask."
"Dealing with government property is such a hassle," Chu Ge grumbled.
