"Do all men turn into that once they have money?" Sitting on the plane, Qiu Wuji stole a glance at Old Zhu, who sat across the aisle with his secretary. She felt as though she no longer knew him.
In fact, Old Zhu looked especially refined that day. Dressed in a Tang suit, his silver hair neatly combed, he looked every bit an elegant old gentleman with an immortal's air. But with a secretary beside him, that whole image fell apart.
Chu Ge leaned over to buckle Qiu Wuji's seat belt. "Do you have some kind of misconception about mine owners?"
"I don't care what he's like. I'm asking about you!"
Chu Ge blinked. "Me? Don't I already have a secretary?"
Qiu Wuji paused, then suddenly laughed.
Oh, right. I've been his secretary for ages. He started out by hitting on his secretary!
Hah, men!
"You're not allowed to have another one!"
"We're a husband-and-wife operation. What else could we have...?"
"Hmph."
The plane began accelerating down the runway. Qiu Wuji stopped bantering and eagerly peered out through the little window.
She watched as what had started out like a car ride slowly left the ground, rising higher and higher until the buildings below became matchboxes and the pedestrians could no longer be seen.
Clouds swirled outside the window, with the blue sky right before her eyes.
Qiu Wuji watched for a while with her chin propped on her hand, then reached out to tap the window, gradually losing interest.
The window was too small, too confining, and it could not even be opened. Sect Master Qiu, who roamed the world on her flying sword, felt so cooped up that she nearly knocked the window out.
"Is this all there is to flying?" Qiu Wuji asked Chu Ge, deeply disappointed.
