Boldly admiring the girl's breathtaking beauty]
The reason was simple: she had not taken the final exams.
Lu Yuanqiu could not help laughing. Suddenly, the academic representative beside him said sourly, "Happy now, Lu Yuanqiu? Bai Qingxia has to sit in the corner with you this time."
The academic representative was named Zhong Jincheng. Fair-skinned, a little over 170 centimeters tall, and wearing glasses, he had a scholarly air.
He was something of a childhood friend of Lu Yuanqiu's.
Unlike most childhood friends, though, these two were rivals who looked down on each other.
Zhong Jincheng despised Lu Yuanqiu's poor grades, convinced that his head served no purpose except to add a few inches to his height.
His own grades really were excellent: second in their class and second in their entire year.
As for why Lu Yuanqiu looked down on him, well...
Despite his refined appearance, Zhong Jincheng was a closet pervert.
His favorite pastime was fantasizing about all kinds of women.
Hu Caiwei, their class's resident goddess, the married woman next door, and even their English teacher were all targets.
Everyone knew their English teacher was particularly fashionable, with beautiful, flowing curls. She never wore the same outfit twice and liked short skirts.
Zhong Jincheng's most notorious achievement had been staring at their English teacher during class with his school uniform draped over his thighs...
Apparently, after starting work, he had tried pursuing his female boss. When she rejected him, he added something to her takeout and ultimately got fired.
A fucking ugly toad chasing a frog-ugly as sin, but full of dirty tricks.
"None of your damn business," Lu Yuanqiu shot back, looking down at Zhong Jincheng.
Height advantage.
Zhong Jincheng curled his lip. He did not envy Lu Yuanqiu, because Bai Qingxia did nothing for him.
To him, Bai Qingxia always kept herself tightly covered, without showing a scrap of skin. Though her stunning face had the innocent beauty of a first love, it was not enough to excite him.
His targets were Hu Caiwei, who frequently skipped the uniform to show off her snowy-white thighs and curves, and their English teacher, who liked short skirts and black stockings.
Just then, Zhong Jincheng suddenly raised his hand. "Teacher, I'm farsighted. I'd like to sit in the back row!"
Liu Wei adjusted the glasses on her nose and smiled. "Of course, Zhong Jincheng. As long as that works for you."
Their homeroom teacher, Liu Wei, was a plump woman in her thirties with a blatant double standard. She was endlessly kind to top students but always gave poor students like Lu Yuanqiu the cold shoulder.
Lu Yuanqiu snorted. Farsighted?
Ha.
He just wanted the back row because it was easier to hide what he was doing.
It was summer, after all, and their English teacher would be coming to class in short skirts and black stockings again.
In descending order of their final exam scores, pairs of deskmates headed into the classroom.
"Hu Caiwei, Wang Haoran."
Liu Wei read out their names.
Hearing his name, Wang Haoran, their handsome class monitor with his center-parted hair, secretly rejoiced. He had only confessed to Hu Caiwei yesterday, and today they were already deskmates.
Hu Caiwei, however, did not seem particularly happy.
As she walked into the classroom, she glanced back at Lu Yuanqiu, looking worried and glum.
"Ladies first, Hu Caiwei."
Smiling, Wang Haoran gestured for her to go ahead with gentlemanly courtesy.
Hu Caiwei forced a smile and nodded.
Eventually, only two people remained in the corridor.
Lu Yuanqiu lounged against the window, smiling at the girl in the school uniform beside him.
Bai Qingxia kept her head low, clutching her sleeve in embarrassment. Her smooth ponytail rested lightly over her left shoulder, revealing a sliver of creamy-white skin at her neck.
Suddenly, Lu Yuanqiu really wanted to reach out and tug her ponytail.
Liu Wei adjusted her thick prescription glasses and said sympathetically, "Qingxia, if you can't see from the back, just tell me. I'll move you up front."
What the hell! You walking double standard!
Lu Yuanqiu immediately protested, "I object!"
Liu Wei glared at him. "You object? Lu Yuanqiu! Who do you think you are?!"
"Bai Qingxia only missed last semester's final exams because something happened at home. If she'd taken them, she would definitely have ranked first in the year!"
Adjusting her glasses again, Liu Wei warned him, "Lu Yuanqiu, I'm warning you. Don't disturb her studies during class. If I catch you doing it, I'll make you stand on the assembly platform out on the sports field!"
Bai Qingxia quickly raised her head and said in a cool, clear voice, "There's no need, teacher. I'll earn my spot back in the monthly exams."
Now that Senior Class 28's mainstay had spoken, Liu Wei's expression instantly transformed into a smile. "Yes, yes, of course. Just don't get discouraged, Qingxia. If Lu Yuanqiu bullies you, tell me."
Bai Qingxia murmured a soft acknowledgment.
Shamelessly, Lu Yuanqiu asked, "What exactly counts as bullying?"
He reached out and poked Bai Qingxia's soft arm, asking experimentally, "Does this count?"

The girl's earlobe on that side turned red, and she shrank away a little.
Liu Wei's face reddened with anger too. She immediately picked up a stick and charged over to protect "Class 28's precious daughter." Lu Yuanqiu smirked, easily dodged her, and strolled into the classroom as though he had not a care in the world.
Bai Qingxia followed with her head lowered. Under everyone's eyes, her other earlobe turned red as well.
Strange... how did Lu Yuanqiu get so much more shameless over a single holiday?
Adjusting her glasses, Liu Wei wondered to herself.
When they reached the window seats in the back row, Bai Qingxia suddenly frowned and wrinkled her nose.
Noticing, Lu Yuanqiu asked, "Smell the stinky feet?"
He spread his arms and laughed heartily. "Bai Qingxia, welcome to the back of the classroom! The world of failing students, the realm of the gods!"
Seeing her bewildered expression, Lu Yuanqiu pointed as he explained:
"Those twins, Liu Buneng and Liu Buxing, are the biochemical brothers. If they take off their shoes, the whole of Lucheng No. 7 Middle School will explode. Their title is the Gods of Biochemical Warfare."
His funny explanation coaxed a small, closed-lipped smile from Bai Qingxia. In that instant, her beauty was utterly breathtaking, leaving Lu Yuanqiu stunned. "You actually know how to smile?"
Bai Qingxia quickly suppressed her smile. With a flustered look, she lowered her head and took her pencil case and books out of her bag, her expression gradually returning to its usual cool reserve.
Seeing her new schoolbag and pencil case, Lu Yuanqiu smiled inwardly in satisfaction and continued, "Now look over there."
Bai Qingxia raised her head and obediently followed his gaze.
Lu Yuanqiu introduced the next one. "To the twins' right is Zheng Yifeng. He sleeps from morning to night. Every time the bell rings, his head drops and he's asleep in a second. Even slapping him won't
"wake him up. He drools enough to draw a map on his desk, but shout that it's mealtime and he'll wake up for sure. Guess what god he is?"
Bai Qingxia should not have answered, but she still replied softly, "The God of Sleep."
Lu Yuanqiu grinned. "Correct!"
For a brief moment, the girl's eyes curved faintly, as though she was pleased to have gotten onto his wavelength.
Lu Yuanqiu continued, "To Zheng Yifeng's right is our academic representative, Zhong Jincheng. The Gun God."
After waiting a moment without hearing an explanation, Bai Qingxia looked over, her beautiful eyes resting quietly on him.
Lu Yuanqiu gave her a strange smile. "No, I can't explain that one to you."
Bai Qingxia looked away and focused on the book in front of her. Suddenly, a buzz-cut head slowly entered her field of vision. Lu Yuanqiu rested the side of his head on her desk, openly and boldly admiring her breathtaking face.
Their gazes intertwined at close range like quivering strings.
Lu Yuanqiu smiled. "Now, let me officially welcome you to the back of the classroom, Goddess of Studying."
He was looking up at her from below.
Bai Qingxia abruptly tightened her grip on her pen. Flustered, she quickly lowered her head to avoid looking him in the eye and shifted her gaze toward her toes, both earlobes scarlet.
No, she could not see her toes.
"Y-you... hurry up and go back," Bai Qingxia urged anxiously.
But the more flustered she became, the more Lu Yuanqiu enjoyed himself.
"Lu Yuanqiu!!!"
Liu Wei slammed her hand on the desk at the front. Only then did Lu Yuanqiu move his head out of Bai Qingxia's territory.

Everyone looked over. Hu Caiwei and their class monitor, Wang Haoran, turned around too.
Seeing Lu Yuanqiu sitting with Bai Qingxia, Hu Caiwei looked resentful, but he did not even glance at her.
"Guess what god I am?"
Suddenly, Lu Yuanqiu quietly asked Bai Qingxia.
