Kallen's gaze brought Kevin a terror almost identical to what he had felt back then. When that gaze fell upon him, it seemed capable of trampling directly on his godhead and grinding away all his pride.
After landing and rolling twice, Puer immediately scrambled up and jumped onto the edge of the bathtub. She carefully examined Kallen's condition and raised her right paw, a cluster of gentle sparks dancing around it as she prepared to examine him internally.
"Get out... get out... get out!"
Kallen practically gritted the words out at Puer. The black in his eyes grew even deeper than before.
"We can find a way to ease your pain. We can, Little Kallen. Relax. Don't be afraid. Kitty is right here with you."
Kallen almost roared, "Kevin, take Puer out!"
Kevin, who was already prostrate on the floor and foaming at the mouth, jolted. He immediately got up, caught Puer in his mouth, and raced out of the washroom, whipping his tail hard to shut the door.
Then he immediately lay back down, his eyes wide as he panted heavily.
"Is there really no way?" Puer asked Kevin.
Kevin shook his canine head.
This was a problem that even the God of Order had been unable to solve back then.
"We can't even watch over him?" Puer asked.
"Woof."
"You mean he doesn't want to see me as food?"
Inside the bathtub, Kallen gripped its edges tightly with both hands. A hunger that left his soul feeling utterly hollow was tormenting him relentlessly.
By comparison, the muscle soreness he had suffered while fighting the Captain last night was hardly worth mentioning.
"Ah... ah... ah..."
Ragged breaths escaped Kallen's throat, and the black in his eyes grew so dense it almost seemed about to drip out.
*So hungry...
