Delong seemed completely unaware that there was anything wrong with what he had shouted. He was like a drowning man who had finally surfaced and could think of nothing but gulping down air, so he shouted it several more times:
"Kallen, you're my grandfather!"
"Kallen, you're my grandfather!"
"Kallen..."
Kallen understood Delong's emotional turmoil and quite naturally overlooked that little slip of the tongue, responding with a smile:
"Grandfather."
At that address, Delong finally quieted down, as though he had received a powerful sedative.
He sat back in his chair as though all his energy had suddenly drained away, but he did not sink into listlessness, because a new force called hope was pouring into him.
He had accepted the fact that Kallen was his grandson, but he had yet to adjust to the changes that knowledge brought.
For instance, this outstanding young man before him also had the Guman Family's blood flowing through his veins. The Magic Cube he had formed was so exquisite and beautiful. Did that mean the Guman Family's future...
The corners of the old man's mouth began to twitch. He was trying to stop himself from grinning foolishly, especially in front of his newfound grandson.
Yet he could barely contain himself. Joy and restraint were colliding violently inside him, making him want to squirm along with them, as though he itched all over.
Finally, the old man pointed upstairs and said:
"Well, Kallen, lunch should be ready upstairs. Go up and eat first. Your paternal grandmother... your grandmother prepared lots of delicious food for you."
"All right, Grandfather."
Kallen gave Delong a slight bow, then turned and left the studio.
This "reunion" had been somewhat too simple, yet it made sense. Kallen had not prepared for it, while Delong had not had time to prepare.
