He pushed open the window, letting in fresh air that lifted his spirits.
Kallen really liked the environment within the Discipline Department's barrier. He remembered thinking, when he first arrived in Vien, that a place like Allen Manor represented unimaginable wealth. But where he lived now was true extravagance.
It was not merely a question of the barrier's construction cost. Even if Allen Manor were given a vast fortune in point vouchers, they would not be able to hire the specialist clerics responsible for maintaining the barrier.
Once "wealth" reached a certain level, mere "point vouchers" could no longer describe or encompass it.
Just as most divine artifacts in the Sealed Space had clearly marked rental prices, yet also came with requirements for identity and status. Point vouchers alone could not rent them.
After showering and washing up, Kallen went to his office.
Little Kangna always got up very early. She was doing her homework, swinging her legs back and forth and humming a song, in a very cheerful mood.
On her small writing desk sat a fish tank, with an octopus tentacle planted upside down inside like a potted plant.
Kallen noticed Little Kangna lightly scratching her head from time to time and asked, "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
"Mm, my head feels a little itchy."
"It's fine. You must be growing a brain."
"Really?" Little Kangna was delighted. "I've been getting through my homework really quickly these past few days. With another half day today, I can finish this month's homework half a month early. Hehe."
"When you talk to your older sister Puer, remember not to sound too excited. Try to look miserable, unless you want more homework."
"Mm... understood!"
Xili brought breakfast, and Little Kangna sat across from Kallen at his desk to eat with him.
