The master bedroom was enormous. The washroom was inside it, but unlike a hotel suite, it included a "washroom," "study," "sunroom," "golf practice area," and other spaces that nominally belonged to the "master bedroom" but were actually relatively independent.

The study directly opposite the master bedroom, meanwhile, was more like a formal workplace, a "reception room" for discussing business.

Half the floor, it could be said, had been set aside for the family head, serving as his workspace and private quarters.

"Put those down. You can leave."

"Yes."

The two maids set down the toiletries, turned to leave, and closed the bedroom door behind them.

Kallen undressed, stepped into the shower, and began washing.

He liked clearing his mind while showering. As hot water washed over his body, his thoughts could instead settle down.

After his shower, he glanced at the soaking tub that had been filled in advance. Rather than getting in, he dried himself off and put on a black set of pajamas.

He walked to the bed and sat down.

The bed was very soft, and a faint vanilla scent hung in the air. He had no idea what was giving it off, but it certainly was not incense.

Golden Retriever was lying on the large sofa opposite the bed. He had even taken it upon himself to pull a blanket over with his mouth and cover himself. Once he had lain down and tucked himself in, he seemed to notice Kallen looking and grinned at him.

Then,

where was Puer?

Kallen looked around him, then lifted a pillow beside him and found Puer lying there.

Kallen looked at her.

Puer looked back at Kallen.

"It's been so many years since I slept in a bed at home. I've really missed it. Oh~ the scent of home."
